If you have had a miscarriage....
I will be six weeks tomorrow and am going for another sonogram. As I've posted in the past few weeks, my doctor does not believe this will be a viable pregnancy based on my low (but doubling) beta levels. If I go tomorrow and he does not see a yolk sac or a hb, what happens next? Do I wait it out to see if I will miscarry on my own? A d&c?
If you can spare some prayers I'd greatly appreciate it

Re: If you have had a miscarriage....
First of all...I am so sorry that you are going through this. I really and truly hope that you get good news. If you don't, IMHO..you might want to wait things out a bit. 6 weeks is early although in truth..they should at least find a yolk sac. I had a m/c where they saw the yolk sac but were unsure if they saw a fetal pole at 6 weeks. My numbers were not that high and according to some, you will not see a yolk sac, fetal pole or even a gestational sac unless and until your betas reach a certain level. The next week they saw the fetal pole but no HB. I waited until the 8th week and then had a D & C when there was still no HB. Do not let any Dr.'s rush you into anything. You might want to take a look at the following site. It gave me a lot of hope. :

ITA agree with this.
You may be diagnosed with a blighted ovum. My understanding is that your beta will continue to rise, but it will be an empty sac. From that link that was posted, many cases of blighted ovums turned into healthy pregnancies. This happened to one of SIL's best friends. She refused the D&C and waited to miscarry on her own. She went in for monitoring around 10 weeks or so and they finally saw the heartbeat!
If it is a true blighted ovum though, the sacs will continue to get bigger and your betas will continue to rise, but they will still be empty. My triplets (when I was pregnant with DS) were blighted ovums, and they were finally absorbed by my body somewhere between 15-20 weeks. In that case I'm guessing you would need a D&C.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I'm praying for good news for you

This is unbelievable regarding your SIL friend!! That's so scary. I started to mc on my own and woke up wwith a lot of bleeding and cramping. Still thinking about that morning scares me I had a feeling something was wrong-intuition I guess but nothing felt right about the pregnancy. The reason Im telling you that is because it's important to trust your instincts and if you're not ready for a D & C then wait it out a bit.
I wish you luck and am so sorry you're going thru this

Re: If you have had a miscarriage....
First of all, I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a Bilated Ovum miscarriage last year. I went in around 6 and ½ weeks and there was just an empty sac Over the next couple of weeks my beta’s were low but increasing and I still felt pregnant, which was the worst part. However, with each sonogram that I had the sac would appear to be changing shape eventually became flat like a pancake. I was given a choice to go naturally on my own or have a D&C. I decided to go on my own but then after a week I couldn’t stand not knowing when I would miscarry and I was so emotionally drained that I just wanted to move on. I had my D&C around 10 weeks, right after New Years. Hang in there and please do not loose hope. I’ll be praying and thinking about you.
If you have any questions or need any support please do not hesitate to FM me.

First of all I'm so sorry
It depends...at that stage they may want you to let it happen on it's own.

Re: If you have had a miscarriage....
Aww so sorry to hear this, I have been there. I had the doctors check me at 7 weeks and even one more time at 8 weeks bc I hadnt started bleeding yet. My hcg didnt double but was super high. I would not rush the D&C if I were you. Not trying to give you false hope but you just never know and some pregnancies progress slower than others and there are some crazy stories out there! For piece of mind I waited it out until I knew it was really over.
I think it is up to you if you want the D&C. I got one but only bc I started bleeding and couldnt take it anymore and kept calling in sick to work and just needed it over. I sorta regret it though. As terrible as it was at the time, I wish I just let it happen naturally.
