Special New York-Honolulu Introductory Fares In celebration of its new service, Hawaiian is offering special introductory fares of $212 each way in Economy Class and $808 each way in First Class (212 and 808 being the area codes of New York City and Honolulu, respectively). The introductory fares are available for purchase from today through November 20, 2011 and are valid for travel between June 4 and June 30, 2012. Seats are limited. Additional taxes and fees apply. Tickets can be purchased on Hawaiian's website at HawaiianAirlines.com, by calling Hawaiian's reservations department toll-free at 1-800-367-5320, or through any professional travel agent.
It's more than a little tempting.

Yup; i priced a week in June-the flight there from NYC was $212; but the return was over $450.

Yup; i priced a week in June-the flight there from NYC was $212; but the return was over $450.
That's still a fantastic price. DH and I just were there in September. R/T coach was going for over $800 per person then.

We are so thrilled about this! DH's is from Hawaii and his family is in Hawaii. It is so expensive for all of us to come back and forth 2x a year. I haven't been able to get there in the last two years b/c of having DS but MIL has made the trip quite a few times. Usually we fly Continental through Newark but it is such a pain to get over to Jersey! We are hoping the prices stay down.

DH and I just did nonstop from Newark to Hawaii in Sept for our honeymoon. It was a very longgggg flight, but it's still better then stopping and having a layover IMO

I've done both direct and layover flights. I think it all depends on the airline and the plane type. I've flow from JFK to Hawaii with stops in LA and SF and have been miserable because the seats were so uncomfortable.
DH and I now look for flights on comfortable planes (and hopefully flatbed service). It's a good thing I have TONS of FF miles because I am spoiled now. For our HM we flew to Hawaii through Atlanta and it was the best flight EVER! 9½ hours from Atlanta to Honolulu but the flatbed service made it amazing.
