+ OPK???
I was wondering I am at 8 DPIUI and I took both a HPT and an OPK...the HPT is negative but I got a smiley on my OPK...how do I interpret this???

do you have Pcos? You can get a false reading. I would wait 4 hours and hold in your urine and test again.

I did trigger so I def O'ed and I checked a couple of days ago with an OPK and HPT and both were negative at 6 DPIUI so I think the hcg is out of my system.

I do have PCOS but I dont have elevated LH so opk's do work for me.

i used to test on OPK's for fun after triggering and always got a positive, could it be that you still have some of the trigger shot in your system but not enough to show up on the HPT?

I have tested since day 6 and all negatives until today at day 8.

I would test again and if its positive get your blood tested to see if you are going to O. They can tell by that.

I am in the 2ww so I shouldnt ovulate this early in the cycle...I was just wondering if this could be an indicator of pregnancy...

thats def abnormal. i would ask the RE. it is possible that the OPK was just wrong. my RE hates OPKs and says they are extremely unreliable. he said the technology for HPTs has been around for a long time and has been perfected, OPK not so much. good luck!

thats good that you called the doc, i think i'm getting myself too hopeful by trying to see if the HCG is getting out of my system by using the OPK's... i took the trigger last monday and still had a dark positive this morning on the cheapie opk stick. in past cycles it was usually out of my system by now, i think i'm just over thinking this though!

at 8 dpiui it's too early to test anyway. I;ve heard that too but I dont understand it, since opks test for LH and HPTs test for HCG?

basically the difference between HCG and LH chemically arent drastically different. urine tests for HCG (ie HPTs) only detect the chemicals that are in HCG. however OPKs dont distinguish between LH and HCG well and can pick up HCG also since its only looking for the chemical components that are the same in both, and you wouldn't know which one it's picking up. however the strength of results an OPK gives when its detecting HCG is unknown and not meant to be used that way so its not really telling you much, since it cant tell you whether its detecting HCG or LH. so its pretty useless to use an OPK since you never know which hormone its picking up. expensive or not, at least with an HPT you know.
