Botox

What do we think about using Botox as a preventative measure? I don't quite need it yet, but have been invited to a "Botox Party" where a bunch of my good friends go (an actual Doctor in the city does it). It's half price, and I'm interested, yet a little scared.

Pros/Cons?

TIA!

I am not against it but I wouldn't do it unless I needed it. Even at 1/2 price, if you don't need it why waste the money?

Re: Botox

I feel like it's one of those things that once you start, you have to continue forever. Because of that I'd put it off until I definitely needed it and use retin-A or something in the meanwhile.

I would, however, still want to go to the party to satisfy my own curiosity Chat Icon

Re: Botox

I would. I started getting it when I was 26 (haven't for the last few years since I was either TTC, pg or BFing). The doctor where I first started getting it said that the earlier you start using it the less lines will develop. Not sure how true it is since I already had lines and he was getting $$$. I miss it Chat Icon

Re: Botox

My SIL used to do it and she's against it now. I think because of the maintenance - once you start, you can't stop.

Thanks, ladies. Can't decide what I'm going to do. I agree that it seems addictive. DH is pretty against it. I do think there is something to doing it BEFORE major lines develop. I don't know, I don't know....

If I had the loose cash, I'd be at the local medi-spa having my mug injected. Chat Icon

Re: Botox

I am not against it BUT NOT with a party. I feel you need to go to a super great Dr. and not because you get a discount somewhere.

They can really mess up your face if they hit the nerves/muscles the wrong way.

Re: Botox

I do botox every three to four months and I love it!

I do it at the temple to actually bring the eye up like a doe eye. I don't need it oin the forehead yet. So I use a very small amount.

Re: Botox

I see no problem with it BUT go to a dermatologist NOT a "Botox party". I wouldn't even be satisfied with a regular MD because many of them are now jumping on the Botox wagon and giving it when they really don't know how to. It can have negative effects when not done properly.

Also, from what I hear Botox itself is $$$ and even the doctors giving it are paying a pretty penny for it. You should be VERY leery of anyone giving it at a super discounted rate.

Re: Botox

ive done restyline not botox and i loved it

it lasts a long time up to a year and builds collagen in your face.

i cant wait to get another shot of it after the babies come.

if you have the means to do botox or another enhancement, i would go to your dr and skip the party one
