Do you have an island in your Kitchen?
I'm remodeling my Kitchen and we took down the walls seperating the dining and living room so its open to one whole space.
I was thinking of putting an island when the two walls came down. But I'm not sure what island shape---I was thinking traingle shape, but not sure. I was also thinking of one that is higher on one side and lower on the other.
Do you have an island in your kitchen? And if so, what shape is it? ---if you have pictures that would be helpful, since its hard for me to visualize.
Thanks

we have a rectangular island between our kitchen and dining room. One level. Ours friends just put in a two height island and its AWESOME. Actually sounds exactly like what you are talking about.

Do they have a sink or cooktop in their island?
Becasue I'm not adding the sink or cooktop in mine, does it look stupid if I don't?

I really wanted a smaller sink in my island, but in the end I decided against it as I didn't want to take away from the island counterspace. My island is like 5 feet by 6 feet. In the end I am glad I did because I probably wouldn't use the sink on the island as much as I needed that extra counterspace.

oh ok thanks.
yeah the contractor said that if I ever wanted to change it later on---the kitchen would have to ripped out and put back along the wall--so that's why I decided not too.

Re: Do you have an island in your Kitchen?
We did in our old house - we have cabinets on one side and a raised countertop (bar height with stools) on the other side. I loved it!
This house (colonial) has a long kitchen and we don't have room for an island. I miss it!

We have a two tier island.
We'd both prefer it to be one level b/c we have our cooktop in it so it's not a lot of counter space.
Since you're not putting anything in it - go for the two tier.

Re: Do you have an island in your Kitchen?
The island in my kitchen is a long rectangle. Its about 14 feet long (one level). Our sink is built into it. The stove top is across from it; against a kitchen wall.
I dont think an island w/out anything would look stupid at all; I just cant picture a triangular island? I've only seen square, rectangular and round.
