homeowners ins cost
How much do you pay for this if you don't mind sharing? We have a 2 BR 2Bath condo and are paying 2160 a year (plus about 1200/yr for auto) and they are with the same company. I feel like this is a lot but I am not sure....
What do you think?

Re: homeowners ins cost
we have a 4br, 1.5 bath and 2 car garage, it cost us $718/year.
For a 2BR/1BA condo, we used to pay about $200/year.
Call up a broker who can give mulitple ins. rates, you can definiitely do better unless you got extra stuff that's not needed.

Re: homeowners ins cost
That's definitely a lot for a condo. For a condo you should be insuring the contents only, the condo itself holds the insurance on the structure.
I think we paid no more than $300 a year when we lived in our condo, and that included a rider for my e-ring and both of our wedding bands.
Even now for our house, we pay less than $2,000.

Re: homeowners ins cost
I definitely think you are paying a LOT more then you should be. i also suggest contacting a broker. I have a great one whos office is in Wantagh but has clients all over the island. FM if you want his number ! Good luck !
Eta- realized I never really answer the question asked !! I live in a house, not a condo, and pay about half of what you are paying. As another poster said, you should be insuring your contents, basically from the walls in. the condo company has their own insurance for the walls out. As opposed to homeowners insurance where I have insurance for it all, the structure, contents etc. Everyone's homeowner insurance will vary based on what the square footage of the house is, where you're located, how much contents coverage you have and other things. But typically condo/co-op insurance will be less then homeowners because you aren't covering a lot.

Re: homeowners ins cost
Around $1k/year -- found it was cheaper to break up the policies and go with separate insurance companies -- even though Allstate kept telling me I was getting a multi-policy discount.
Homeowners was cheaper through State Farm and car ins was cheaper through Geico. We're 3 beds, 2ba house less than a mile from the bay but outside the flood zone.
