Shoprite in Patchogue
Not impressed at all. Prices not much lower, crowded and lines at least 20 minutes to check out. I know it is a mad rush now but like Pathmark and Stop and Shop much better.

I thought the crowds were HORRIBLE.. but my shopping bill was significantly lower. I'll be there again tomorrow to brave the crowd in the name of 99 cent Tropicana, 99 cent per lb chicken breasts and 99 cent ice cream!!

Yeah, I did see those sales for tomorrow but I needed to go today. My bill was exactly the same as last week at Pathmark and I didn't more things at Shoprite.

Where are you seeing this sale? I am in Suffolk County (Smithtown) and I didn't see chicken for .99 cents and we need chicken!!

I live in Sayville. We got coupons for the grand opening that included 99 cent per lb boneless chicken breasts for the Grand Opening sale. A bunch of coupons actually.. 4.99 cod filets too.

My dh is a manager for shop rite. Their prices are significantly lower then the other stores but if I can give you one word of advice straight from the horses mouth... DON'T GO ON A SUNDAY! that's the day the sales start for the week and the stores are a mad house!

Pathmark is cheaper that Stop and Shop. While I like both, I would rather go to Pathmark unless I need something that S&S carries that they do not.

I think because this one opened up last week it was so crowded yesterday too. I don't think it was worth it to stand on line for 20 minutes to check out for things I could have gotten at Pathmark for the same price and I could have been in and out of the store in less than an hour.

It's a beautiful store, and I don't think you can beat their prices - especially their sales.
I am sure the crowds will thin out a bit as time goes on. Also, bear in mind that because they just opened, many of the cashiers are probably brand new. I'm sure that as they gain experience the lines will move more quickly.

I have to disagree. I think their sales now are grand opening sales but I did my normal shopping yesterday and did not see much of a difference from the prices I pay at Pathmark.

That may be true; I am not a fan of the Pathmark by me and will not shop there. If this Shoprite stays as clean and nice as it is now, I will definitely travel the few extra minutes it takes me to go there as opposed to shopping at Stop & Shop and King Kullen because the savings really are worthwhile compared to those stores.

I agree with the prices less than S&S and KK. I do like how it is nice and clean too.

I went friday morning. Wasnt bad at all. Didnt wait to checkout, only 5 mins at the deli amd I thought the store was great. Def cheaper than stop and shop, and I eliminated going to BJ's because SR prices on those things were cheaper.

Re: Shoprite in Patchogue
l hate pathmark. Yes they have great prices but the stores are filthy and gross and I won't shop there. Shoprite is so clean and the prices are alot cheaper then kk and stop and shop.
Yes they were packed this weekend but that's only because it just opened. Of course they are crowded. People who normally don't shop on the weekends are going to check out the new store.

I think Pathmark has cleaned up a lot in the past few years. They used to be worse but I have never had a problem with any of their food and it is much cheaper than most places around. I would never shop there though if I thought it was dirty. I have stopped going to places like that before even though their prices were good too.

It was probably so crowded since it just opened. You cannot go near the Shoprite near me on a Sunday..it's always mobbed. Nothing beats their sale prices imo

Re: Shoprite in Patchogue
I'm still on the fence about it. Went last week and was there 2+ hours (with two DCs ) because the lines were so long but I think the sales were totally worth it: 5+lbs of filet mignon for $25 for ex.
Went back today for the $.99 Tropicana, $0.99/lb chxn breast, $1.99/lb butter, etc. and even though it wasn't crowded at all, I still was there for nearly 90 minutes because I couldn't find ANYTHING I was looking for. Then the check-out girl aggravated me because I forgot my Shoprite card and she couldn't give me the sale prices, she had trouble reading my coupons so they didn't scan, I asked for rain checks for the butter but she couldn't help me because she "didn't know how".
It's genius marketing, IMO. Get us in the door with the great sale prices for a few things, then when we can't find the items or be sure we're buying the right ones that the coupons work for, we pay full price for what we CAN find.
I say I won't be back, but today I spent $73 and saved $57 -- not bad......

Yes, I agree that they are going to throw out really good sales now to get people in the door. We were there for an hour and a half and my dh said the boy packing our bags was soooo nervous. He couldn't figure out what to put where. He even tried to help him at the end of the order.

Same here. I find their regular prices to be reasonable too - compared to the other stores in our area (I don't like the Pathmark by me - it's set up funny - so I compare to A&P and Stop and Shop).
