Do you re-use oil?
DH uses oil to make french fries, chicken cutlets and a few other meals. He wants it to sit on the counter for weeks until he fries something else. I throw it out.
Settle a debate.
Do you keep oil to re-use it? If so, for how long?

Re: Do you re-use oil?
Edited: My answer was no, but I don't have a deep fryer or anything like that, so I wouldn't know... For regular pan-frying, we dump the oil.

If I use the deep fryer for something that is NOT fish and the oil is still clean, i strain it and put it back in the bottler and use it next time.

Re: Do you re-use oil?
We did, but only for two or three days. The oil is definitely still good after just one use.
ETA: I say "did" because we no longer have a deep fryer.

Re: Do you re-use oil?
if I make french fries and there is still a lot of oil left in the pan, i will put it in a jar and keep it in the fridge and re-use next time.

Re: Do you re-use oil?
My BIL does this. My DH tries, but I throw it out. I think its nasty. BIL also ages his own meat He said he wanted to use my gaage fridge to age a standing rib roast. I told him I'd throw it out

I don't really see why it's nasty. I mean, a personal preference, sure, but nasty? My deep fryer is clean, anything I put in there is obviously clean since I will be eating it and the lid of my deep fryer locks shut. I see it as no different than oil sitting in a bottle. Restaurants re-use oil all the time.
Though, this thread makes me wonder how often they change the oil at places like McDonalds.

Same here. If they're permitted to do it in restaurants, why can't I?
