Can someone give me a Fastpass cheatsheet?

Going to disney and feel so overwhelmed by this fastpass stuff. How do I know which rides to get fastpass at? What's the strategy? Thanks in advance!

I think there is a section on DISboards.com dedicated to this... I remember using this when we went

Also the unofficial guide book has tips too on where to use it and what order!

Sorry I am not more help myself

One thing I can suggest...is if you go to H.S. run to the Toy Story mania ride as soon as the park opens...wait on the line..that will be the shortest it will be the whole rest of the day and have someone in your party to get a fast pass at the same time for later in the day while you hold your place on the line! THis is a popular ride and gets "sold out" of fast passes VERY EARLY!

Kellie,

Here's the information from Walt Disney World regarding FASTPASSes: Disney's FASTPASS Service

Like Katie mentioned, Toy Story Mania, is most definitely a good FASTPASS option! It's the most popular ride at WDW today and if you don't get to Hollywood Studios at rope drop, your FASTPASS return time could be late in the evening and by midmorning, they're often gone for the day.

Just be careful during the park opening stampede to Toy Story Mania - though they have Cast Members guiding the way, it's pure craziness and littles can get trampled. It's best if one parent takes ALL Key to the World cards and gets FASTPASSes while the rest of the family waits for the herd to blast through.

Take a look at the standby line first thing as well. If the line is still inside the building, and you're not visiting WDW at peak season, it's usually best to ride then as well.

Using FASTPASSes effectively is information your travel agent should provide so definitely ask them for details. It's part of what makes up a great itinerary which is instrumental in creating a magical vacation experience!

Re: Can someone give me a Fastpass cheatsheet?

In MK we work it so we hit Big Thunder and Splash first - get FP for one and ride it, then do the same for the other. We get a Peter Pan FP as we go by there. The good thing about WDW is that the FPs are available for a long time, unlike DL where people are more savvy and they run out a lot earlier.

Agree w/the toy Story advice and do the same for Soarin, though you can get it as a group and ride it. (I am not a fan of having 1 person wait in line and having 1 person get the FP and join the group in line. But I know it is necessary for TSMM!).

Also, you can use your FP anytime after the return time, not just during the window. So if the return time is 10:20 to 11:20, you can use it ANYTIME after 10:20, not just in that hour. But it has to be the same day.

HTH, Fastpass is wonderful IMO!

Look into RideMax. My cousin used it at WDW and I used it at DL...So great! You tell them the rides you want to go on, breaks, days, etc and they give you a plan based on average wait times for that specific day. Thy will include fast passes in the plan.

Just got back from Disney on Monday. When you go to H.S definitely head to the Toy Story ride first as the fast passes were gone by 10am both days we were there. The wait times were up to 1 hour 10 min when we were there. Also you can fast pass once an hour. So as soon as we could fast past another ride we did. Also a good thing to note is you do not have to go in the hour time frame on the fast pass. You can go pretty much anytime after your start time. For example if it is from 10:40 to 11:40, you can go to the ride anytime after 10:40 but not before.

Our plan of action was to go and fast pass the most popular rides at each park first. So at Animal Kingdom, we fast passed Mt. Everest first then did other rides, then fast passed the Safaris etc. In MK we first fast passed Space Mountain, then went over to Frontierland and fast passed those rides when we could. I am not sure when you are going but we didn't wait any longer than 20 minutes for any rides in Disney last week. If we got there when the park opened we were walking right into everything.

ETA - We borrowed the Birnbaum book from a friend it was great. It breaks down each park and which rides they deemed the best and which ones had fast passes. It also has a lot of helpful tips in it. I would definitely recommend it.
