Make sure you remove ALL bags from inside the turkey! I thought there was only one, turns out there were two Chat Icon Thank GOD I found that before it was too late.

Baste, baste and baste some more!! Keep that turkey moist!! And if you can afford it, go for a fresh bird over a frozen one. Much moister I find!

Prep as much as you can the night before. I chop and dice all of the veggies, prepare the stuffing, stuffed mushrooms and most of the sides the night before. I also clean and season the turkey so all I have to do is throw it in the oven in the morning.

I agree with either catering the turkey, or if making it- Keep it Moist and Flavorful!! Keep it wet and seasoned.

Get the house cleaned in advance. Do as much as the cooking as you can beforehand. Make the desserts the day before. Prep all the ingredients you will be working with the day of.

I also like to make a list of all of the food I'm making and put it on the fridge so I won't forget anything. It helps keep me on track and focused as not to miss a major component of the meal.

What do you want to serve food-wise? I can give you some recipes/ideas of what is a big hit at my functions but it would be good to know what you already have planned or want to make.

Menu and prep list on the fridge, cross off as you go.

Label all the serving bowls !
Makes it easier when you start dishing up.

Prep as much the day before, including setting the table.

When the bird comes out of the oven to rest, put everything else in the oven to keep warm until ready to dish.

My huge pot of mashed potatoes stays quite warm when wrapped in a big beach towl and put aside until ready to dish up. A thin layer of hot milk on top keeps them moist.

Did not know that, I'm gonna try it this yearChat Icon

as far as advice, don't be afraid to let people bring things!

Make a schedule for yourself so you can plan out your day(s). Start shopping now so that you can catch things as they go on sale.

Try to enjoy yourself too!Chat Icon
