I am so stressed and upset
I decided today I am paying Dr. B to monitor me immune wise. I need my intralipids and will shell out the money.
LI IVF is making me trigger tonight and having me go in for an IUI tomorrow am, but at my appt this morning it showed my biggest follie at 16 with 2 14's behind it and a bunch of 10-13.5's too.
At Dr. B's I always triggered when the follie was at 20-21. Is 16 too immature? I don't get why so early? The said my LH surge went from a 4 to a 17 in 24 hours so that's why, but today is CD10 for me and I have never O-ed until at least CD11 and average is CD13.
I am soooo worried these are all too immature and won't be mature enough.
I feel like all I learned at Dr. B's is completely different here. Can a 14 or 16 fertilize?

IMHO its too early. but i was a Dr B girl too. its important to trust whomever you are seeing, so talk to them!!

they do seem small.. but the 16 is ok and the 14s may grow to 16 by tomorrow. Also, LI IVF does b2b iui's so if you normally O on CD 11, and today is CD 10 and you're triggering tonight... then you should be right within the same time frame as a normal cycle.
I agree with flowerwife, if you're concerned, def talk to them.
When I was doing IUI's with LI IVF I didnt trigger until CD18 and it was always based on my surge and follie size. So I imagine its the same protocol.
**Edited to add that yes, a size 14 and 16 can fertilize. Bigger does not always mean better in this case**

as a dr b patient, i learned the same way you did, so it makes no sense to me. BUT, i have to think that they are the doctors with the experience and education, so they must know something! They need to assuage your fears by explaining it to you in a way that makes sense to you, so make sure they do that. if they cant, then i'd consider a switch.

I actually normally O on day 13 which is my average, but the earliest ever was 11 and latest ever (one time) 16. I calculated that if this was Dr. B's office tomorrow would be the 1st CD10 appt and he'd probably have me trigger Tuesday night for a Wed IUI.
And LI IVF said they do NOT do back to backs unless it shows I didn't O yet.
I did express my conern to the girl on the phone and she said they wait until 18, and that the HCG shot will help them grow more.
I am just so annoyed by their protocol, my arms are DESTROYED from gettng blood 5x in one week, and they wanted me and DH to come together tomorrow, so I'd have to wait for his sample to be ready meanwhile I will be on my lunch break.
I guess I am used to Dr. B and I used to hate his wait time, but prefer that and only having 2 monitoring appts to have 5 in one week!
I am calling him 1st thing tomorrow giving my credit card and prayer for my intralipds within the next few days.
I don't get how a 16, say it's 17 or 18 by tomorrow is as good as a nice 20 or 21 which is what I have had my prior 8 IUI cycles.
I think I am just super crabby about it all, I feel like by this point I know my body so well and know I am not ready.

I know that a follie anywhere from 16-20 mm is considered ideal size when doing IUI. So don't stress!
If your past IUI's were all done at 20mm+, then maybe this is the size you need to have a successful cycle. You never know!!

Thanks that actually makes me feel a bit better and I got a happy face today, so I guess I really am starting to O on my own.
I think the change at a different Dr. and a new plan is just throwing me off.

Before you pay ask to speak to Sandra or Linda and ask them how long the intralipds are good for. When I had them done with Dr. B 2 years ago, he used to tell me they lasted for 8 weeks so that was good for 2 iuis for my cycle. If they are still effective save your money! Good luck!

I know it is different than what you are used to, but maybe this is what will work for you. Triggering at 20 didn't get you your , but maybe this will!
During my IVF cycle, they triggered me at what seemed to be early as I had 1 19 or 20 and a bunch of 14-17. They got 11 eggs and 10 were mature. Have some faith in the doctor you decided to trust.

Dr. B always told me they last about 4 weeks, and if a preg happens you get it done one more time.
But even though mayyybe it would cover me for this one cycle I still will need it for as long as it takes to get pregnant, even if I am doing IVF.
And I found out I can pick up OON coverage in January at my company but it doesn't cover fertility treatments at all. So it may be better to have him be my monitorer and get the treatments physically done at LI IVF.

i agree with everyone that if you have any concerns about the change in protocol call and ask to speak to the Dr! its okay to be nervous about the change but its also important that you are in agreement with the changes.
i had B2B IUIs at LI IVF, i did not use the trigger shot because i had a LH surge before i can take it. so i guess since my cycle was less controlled thats why.....good luck and i hope you get the answers you need to feel better!

The thing is I don't really trust Doctors that tell me immune issues aren't a problem and don't relate to fertility.
Because the research I have done online shows it very well can play a part.
And if I am going to pay OOP for IVF one day, what's the point if my immune system just kills everything off.
But thanks for your words, I am hoping the different protocol combined with my intralipids helps.
Whats SO weird to me is I look forward to the intralipids, I feel so good for several days after I get it.

I am happy about the change in meds because I think I have responded better, I am not happy about all that monitoring only because it is $80 a visit for me, plus my arms are scary looking and painful!
Now that I did get my happy face I guess they were right to tell me to trigger, it just seemed early to me and I think I am over emotional this cycle when normally I am relatively okay. I think it just took it's toll switchign to a new Dr.
Everyone at LI IVF is SO nice and professional and their facility is so clean and beautiful looking. I just need someone who sees my NK activity, my hashimotos disease, my elevated thyroid anti-bodies, low vit D and hetro MTHFR and says hmmm, maybe this could be coming into play...not nope this has nothing to do with it and you are just unexplained.
I paid my Dr. B fee this morning though and I feel SOOOOO much better. It is hard financially but I believe I need it and Dr who deals with this all the time.

You need to do whatever is going to help you sleep at night. I think if it will stress you out not getting the intralipids, then you should go for it. I hope this is it for you!

That is what I thought too, but then yesterday evening I got a happy face and triggered at 11pm.
When I went to my appt today (for the IUI) I showed two 20 eggs, a 16 and a 15.5 and all of them hadn't even released yet. So in 24 hours they grew a lot. Going for another IUI and I am pretty sure I am O-ing now because I have pretty bad O pain, but it seems the numbers are a bit higher now.
Also the NP showed me my monitoring chart and all my blood results in a handy chart and she said they triggered me a bit earlier than normal because from Sat to Sun my LH surged from a 4 to a 36, so I was starting to O on my own.
It makes a bit more sense now, I got the happy before the trigger so I was starting to O, early or not my body was doing it.
