Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

I've been married for a few years now, and honestly, my wedding dress is just not something I am sentimental about. I have no emotional connection to it. We recently moved and I almost threw it out accidentally, but now I am seriously considering letting it go. We're about to have a baby and closet/storage space is a precious commodity.

Did anyone else either donate or just plain toss their wedding dress? If you donated it, where? Am I a monster for not caring to keep it?

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

I planned on selling it- but it wound up with a cigarette burn and a huge tear in the organza.

I thought about using it to make a christening gown for DD, but didn't have the $500 to spend.

So, now it's just hanging in our spare room- which will soon be DD2's room.

I don't know what to do with it.Chat Icon

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

Mine is sitting in a closet for 16 years now. I don't know what to do with it -- it's yellow and probably unsalvageable, but I hate to just throw it out. So in the closet it sits...

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

Yea, my dilemma is that I don't feel strongly about keeping it, but I can't bring myself to toss it. Chat Icon

It does feel wrong to throw it in the garbage, but I know for a fact I will never do anything with it.

I have no idea what I would have done with it anyway, it wasn't a big expensive dress...

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

You're not a monster at all, everyone feels differently. I actually gave mine to a family friend who was getting married. It was really cool to see her pics and know that someone else got some joy out of it!

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

I sold mine a few weeks ago, I wanted to buy something and didnt have the extra cash so there went the dress. The truth is since the wedding day its been from one closet to the other and really have no use for it and I hate clutter.

Re: Did anyone NOT save their wedding dress?

I have a friend who threw hers out... I can't see myself doing that. If I really didn't want it, I'd donate it or find some use for the fabric. It's still hanging in the garment bag in my closet... I can't part with it!! I'm still sad I'll never get to use it again.

I donated mine to Bridal Garden in the city. The profits go to a children's charity.

sold mine right after on preownedweddingdresses.com, we lived in the city and did not have space to store it. The girl I sold it to was so happy with it, I got just over a 1,000 for it and frankly no regrets.

I donated it. I can't remember which organization, but it was women with breast cancer.
