HSG??

Hey ladies....so after my second failed IUI I decided to ask for a HSG test...remarkably the nurse was surprised I had never had one. No one at RSONY even mentioned it...found it on google. Anyway I am going on Friday morning and wondering if the procedure is painful? Do I really need someone to drive me? Thanks for any info:):)

Re: HSG??

I'm surprised you were doing IUIs and haven't had a HSG! For me it was quick and painless, I also had some blockage and didn't feel any pain. Its about the same discomfort as having a PAP.

Good luck! Hope its quick and painless for you also

Re: HSG??

That is surprising...has your DH had a SA?

With the HSG for me it was a uncomfortable and I had some cramps...take a couple motrin before...also bring a pantyliner cause the dye leaks. I drove to the place and home with no issues.

Good luck

Re: HSG??

I felt discomfort, when the was being inserted, like AF cramps, but was over quickly.

Bring a pad/pantyliner, the ink can leak out and make a mess. GL!

Wow I can't believe they did an IUI without giving you an HSG first, if you have blockage an IUI is pointless.

I went to mine on my lunch break, drove myself and went back to work after. Took 2 advil prior and had some light cramping like 5 hours later.

To me (with no blockage) it was slightly uncomfortable and not at all painful. AF is way worse.

Good luck!

Re: HSG??

I took a painkiller before I went and I still killed me! I was told I did have some blockage ( dead cells ) that's why it hurt so bad when they shot the dye in. But the good news was I got pregnant the very next cycle after 12 months! The nurse told when you have this X-ray done it opens up your tubes so you are more likely to get pregnant! Re: HSG??

Okay I have two experience. The first was awful. I never been in so much pain. However once the procedure was over the pain diminished quickly. I did have a block tube. I just took another one a month ago and I was scared. My doctor prescribed me a xanex to help me relax. This time very minimal pain. Only slight discomfort. I did not have any blocked tubes. So I think if you don't have any blockage, it is minimal pain and if you do have blockage it can be very painful. Both times I took ibuprofen before the procedure.
