So I went for my ultrasound...
this morning and there are 3 follicles and the largest one being 13-14mm. I am on CD 11 and the doctor said I should ovulate this weekend and I am in a wedding this weekend ....he also said I should start using OPK's wednesday...I have a question...should I use opk's 2x a day around 12 and then at 8...I dont want to miss it.
I hope that I ovulate later so that I dont have the IUI on the day of wedding...if I do I guess I will be going in early Saturday...AHHH!!!

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
Is there a reason your doctor isn't checking to see when you ovulate? Mine always did with my IUIs.
I would just test one time each day after holding your urine for 4 hours. I'd do it around late afternoon 4 or 5:00 and try to be consistent each day with testing at the same time.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
i agree your doctor should be monitoring your ovulation to correctly time the IUI since OPKs aren't foolproof and don't allow the timing to be optimal.

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
I'm not sure about your question of "how often", but here's what i can tell you.
I had my follicular tracking today, CD 12. I have 3 follies measuring 17-19. my RE said to use the digital OPK with the smiley face at early AM then again in the afternoon. If I don't surge by Wednesday, come back in Thursday for more monitoring. If they see everything going well, then I will a)take the trigger shot then come in Fri & Sat for IUI or b)if I am o'ing on my own, it could be Fri-Sat or Sat-Sun for iui.
Dr. specifically said not to use OPK's with the line because they're too confusing and unreliable. They also did a urine test this morning.

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
My doctor said to use the opk once dailiy but I am going to do it 2x a day so I will be able to catch the surge.
I asked about the trigger shot and they said that if I O on my own they dont trigger. I wish they would so that I can time the IUI.

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
Your dr's protocol sounds totally normal. My RE also monitors me but has me use OPK's and once I get a smiley I come in the next morning for IUI and then again 24 hours later. They take blood at all sonos to measure LH and estorgen so Im sure your Dr is doing the same thing.
Good luck!!
*** Edited b/c I just re-read your post... are you not going again until they hear from you about a smiley?

I was told to not come in until I get a smiley and to use opk's to monitor for ovulation.

Re: So I went for my ultrasound...
I always always O'd on my own, but for the last IUI, I had a trigger. My RE wanted to time things perfectly.
I'm just furious at how much the sticks cost. Seriously they're getting rich off of the most vulnerable people because they know they can
