Elective C - first time around
is it covered by insurance?

I know nothing about insurance but if the OB deems it a medical necessity it should be. I had an elective/scheduled C with my first because he was measuring large.

My dr. sent me home asking me to think about it.. because if I go 40 plus weeks, baby might not fit through. I figured,I would be induce and then if it failed, then they roll you into the OR..

If your baby was measuring too large to deliver vaginally, it's not an elective c-section; it's just scheduled. "Elective" is women that could've gone naturally, but chose not to. (Think of Posh Spice. She scheduled her sections around her husband's soccer games).
In order for insurance to cover an elective section, your doc would have to basically lie to your company and tell them it was necessary.

Yes --- mind was a "scheduled" bc DD was measuring over 10 lbs and so the doctor didn't think it was safe for me to go naturally. Insurance covered all but about $3k, which was mostly anestesiologist and NICU care after the baby was born....I had GHI at the time.
