for those who have a young dc/baby at home
i'm 8 weeks, and dd is only 9 months. She's strong and crawls and climbs all over me and she's heavy and i hold her close to my belly to rock her and she often kicks and punches me in the chest and belly. There isn't much i can do about it, she's my dd, and it's not her fault i am pregnant. I can't not hold her or play with her and i can't contain her. Please assure me that this is all ok, and it won't be harmful to the baby.... i mean what do people do who are pregnant and have a young dc at home? i meant to ask my dr. and I forgot.... tia

I have a 4 yo (who I sometimes must carry to her room for time outs--kicking and screaming) and a 1 yo, who I carry all the time. It's fine. Baby is well protected in there.

I have a 14 month old and she is very very active, climbs all over me, never ever sits down I have to run after her all day. She weights 20lbs and I carry her when I need to. My re says its fine because my body is use to it already. I find the hardest part of being pregnant and having a lo is the lack of sleep. I'm exhausted and my dd still doesn't sttn. There isn't much I can do, I knew what I was getting into when I got pg so now I just have to deal.

I am 17 weeks and have a LARGE 10 month old. He is 25 lbs 12oz. I pick him up when I need to and make sure I bend at the knees. I just have to be careful of my back other than that the baby is well protected in the belly!

I agree, the baby is well protected! My ds is 2 and 30ish lbs he still needs to be picked up and tries to climb all over me. He has even stepped on my stomach, which landed me in L&D for a day. Luckily the baby was fine but it made me realize how protected he/she is in there!

I'm 8 weeks too and have an active and very physical 27 month old DS. He is forever climbing on me, wanting to be picked up, tumbling on me, etc. He kneed me in the gut once when I was about 4 weeks, but everything was fine. I'm trying not to worry about it and just to protect my belly as much as I can.
