pregnancy gingervitis? anyone?
ok so for the past 2-3 weeks my tooth has been driving me crazy. Not a constant pain just annoying except when something cold hits it. I finally made it to a dentist. He said my teeth look ok but cant tell 100% without an xray which neither one of us want to do unless absolutely necessary. He scrapped the gums near the tooth bothering me and side he believes it to be more of a pregnancy gingervitis.
Im scheduled for a cleaning and told me to brush with sensodyne and we will see how that works after a few day.
I've been researching pregnancy gingervitis and I dont feel like I have the symptoms they are saying goes with it. I'm taking the dentists word for it but I just want to know if anyone has ever experiance this and if so what were your symptoms?

When I was pg with #1 I went for my routine cleaning at about 6 months. I had no discomfort or anything and I definitely wasn't a yuck-mouth, but when the hygenist looked at my gums, she said she saw alot of bacteria and they gave me a nasty rinse to use 2x/day. The didn't call it gingavitis, but pregnancy can attack your mouth.

I had it with my last pregnancy. I am super diligent with taking care of my teeth (flossing and brushing at least 2x a day, getting a cleaning every 3 months) so it has nothing to do with hygiene. It is the hormones in your body, they can make your gums and teeth extra sensitive and they bleed easily. I have tooth sensitivity to begin with so I use Sensodyne. The pregnancy gingivitis went away as soon as I had DS and I haven't gotten it with this pregnancy so far.

Thanks, what did it feel like?
The only reason why I question it is my gums have never bled and its only sensitive in one area like one tooth (maybe 2). I dont know why Im even questioning it. I know its a hormonal thing.
