Need help with a kitchen paint color
We want to repaint our kitchen since we're not able to completely re-do it right now. It's currently an off white with some hideous stenciling along the top above the cabinets.
It's kind of open to our living/dining room which will soon be painted a sandy brown. Any suggestions for what color would look nice in the kitchen without clashing with the other two rooms? Right now it just looks so drab in there... It might be hard to tell from the photo, but the cabinets are a kind of light green.

If it were MY kitchen - I would change the hardware to a crystal knob. I would also paint the kitchen a warm yellow. I dig the shabby chic look though.
For someone else's kitchen I'd do metal hardware - brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze (prob the nickel) and paint it a neutral color. Maybe two shades lighter than your sandy brown.

Re: Need help with a kitchen paint color
Thanks! Yes, I forgot the mention we will be changing the hardware, probably to nickel as you said.
We thought about painting the cabinets, but the guy we bought the house from use car paint on them! Car paint??? So we're thinking that might be too hard to get off and it's probably just better to wait til we have money to get completely new ones. Unless anyone knows a good way to get car paint off cabinets, ha ha

what about a gray paint color?
That would look nice with the green.

I agree with Jen- I think a warm yellow would look awesome. You could also do a cool blue/grey color.
I think you may be able to paint those cabinets if you use an oil based primer.
New hardware and some paint on the walls will definitely transform it though- good luck! post pics

I would go with a light gray or dary gray to pick up on the countertops. That plus the change in hardware will give it a nice look!
