France/Belgium or Spain/Portugal?
DH and I are looking to plan a trip for some time towards the end of May or beginning of June... we're thinking either France and Belgium or Spain and Portugal.
Any suggestions??? Preferences??
TIA

Re: France/Belgium or Spain/Portugal?
I've been to France.
I've been to Spain and Portugal.
and even though I've never been (yet) to Belgium I would pick Spain/Portugal, mostly b/c of Portugal.
it was BEAUTIFUL. gorgeous. and one of the most inexpensive places in the EU.
and since you are going when the prices start to go up, I would pick there.
I mean, you can't really go wrong. the food will be great in both places, but Portugal has a special place in my heart.

Re: France/Belgium or Spain/Portugal?
I like France and Belgium. It depends on what you want. I really like French food, so I do a lot of eating and drinking holidays . I'm going to Belgium next week- can't wait for all the good beer, chips, chocolate, and mussels.
Just a heads up- Next year at the time you plan to go, there are a lot of Catholic holidays- Ascension, Pentecost, and Corpus Christi. If you are set on a particular hotel, I would make sure you plan it in advance so you get what you want. I'm not sure how much of everything is closed, but in Germany, everything is closed, and it's a really popular time to go on holiday. I plan to plan these long weekends in January, so I get what I want. Last year we had to pay a lot of money for a room because it was the only place left.

It's so different.
North Portugal is gorgeous!
But Spain and Portugal is a much different weather than France/Belgium.
Like NYC vs Florida.
I am biased to France Belgium.
Just depends what you want to do, weather you want, etc...

Re: France/Belgium or Spain/Portugal?
ive been to all 4 and they are all great- but- if i had to choose-
spain portugal has a lead in my mind
lisbon, barcelona- 2 of my favorite cities in the world.
its more affordable- esp portugal and the people are very friendly and welcoming.
its warmer temp wise
i guess those are not really hard core reasons- but the "feeling" in spain and portugal cant be described in words...
