Am I crazy???? (another stroller question)
OK so I'm already looking at strollers bc I'm a crazy, crazy girl.....
For a "big" stroller, I'd like to eventually register for/get either a Bugaboo Cameleon or an UPPAbaby Vista.
I've heard how great the Baby Jogger City Mini is for a "light" stroller.... I'd like to have one of these too..... I see it's on "clearance" at Buy Buy Baby for $199 (I guess to make room for the newer model that is coming out). My questions is this: Is it totally crazy for me to buy the $199 City Mini within the next few weeks so I have it & it wont be as expensive as the new model & then register for the "fancy schmancy" Bugaboo or UPPAbaby????????
Am I crazy to think this is a good idea & a strike while the iron is hot/the price is low for the City Mini?????
Also, can I use a Bed Bath coupon towards the purchase of the clearance City Mini????

Unfortunately you can't use the coupon on Baby Jogger brand. If you really like the stroller and the price is good, get it! My only question is, are you looking to use it as an umbrella stroller? I don't have one so I'm not sure if you'll get good use for that purpose.

Honestly I don't think you need to jump on it. Sites like Albee baby and baby-earth usually carry last years models for a discounted price, all year round. Right now Albee has a city mini for $179...

I guess the best thing to do is step back and evaluate your stroller needs.
I'm not sure what the original price of the City Mini is but, I think it's only $30 off (I know the double is). If you wait a bit, you may be able to negotiate a lower price (you take the risk though of it not being available).
The City Mini has a carseat adapter so you can use that from birth - whenever.
Another stroller to look into, if you are thinking of having multiple kids, is the City Select - that can change from a single to double and has a lot of the options that the other two more expensive strollers you mentioned have.

as a BTDT mom I just want to share for me....that would have been an absolute waste to have the fancy UppaBaby or BuggaBoo AND a Citi Mini.
For starters - I know every mom out there worships their citi mini b/c it's lightweight and b/c it folds nicely. Every mom also tells me their DC HATES the citi mini. I do not know 1 child that likes sitting in that stroller for long periods of time. I don't know what it is but I have surveyed every friend who owns one and their kids hate the thing.
I registered for the snap-n-go which is a MUST IMO with the newborn car seat. For in and out of the car I can't imagine not having that thing. Most mom's you ask will tell you the same thing.
I also registered for a BIG stroller - not the fancy ones. I went with a Britax one and HATE it. DD loves sitting in it but it's HEAVY! It folds exactly like the City Mini does...so that is nice and easy. But to lift it in and out of my car is the biggest pain...it's just too heavy. So knowing that - I'd think I'd feel the same about the Uppa or Bugga - they are all so heavy.
I went out and bought a MaClaren on my own after realizing the big strollers are so hard for every day in and out of the car trips. It was THE best thing I did...so sorry I didn't just register for one. It's lightweight...so simple to use and get in and out of car. DD LOVES sitting in it. The ease of it is just great. Honestly I could survive with just the MaClaren but for long walks it's nice to have a big stroller with better, big wheels. The umbrella stroller wheels are def. not meant for long strolls.
SO...that's my story. SO many people do what you are thinking and end up with one million strollers that never get used. Most people I know can't live without their lightweight umbrella strollers.....so just think about what you will really use it for (if you live in the city obv. a big stroller is for you b/c you won't be lifting it in and out of cars) and what you will really need.

I agree with above poster. I think the City Mini and the Bugaboo (while very different) are too similar to justify both. If you want lightweight, I'd get a Maclaren (I have the Volo which I use for airport travel and quick small trips). For "big" I love the BOB and it handles better than the City Mini (bumpy on roads/sidewalks and grass/dirt) and the Bugaboo (handles better and is smoother ride, I posted on your other the thread how many of my friends have sold their Bugaboos).

I think it's a matter of what you'll be using the stroller for. What are your needs? Do you walk a lot? Jog? Will it be more for quick errends? Rough terrain?
I use mine as a quick errend stroller and I rarely use it. We just don't go out a lot and when we do go shopping she wnats to be in a cart. We got the Chicco travel system and LOVE it. Most importantly my DD LOVES it! For us it is perfect. Is it bigger, bulky, not as smooth as a Mclaren or Bob...yup, but what a waste of money for me to buy one of those based on what I use it for! My husband is getting back into running and if it continues to go well in the Spring we'll buy a nice double jogging stroller. Our needs will have changed. I would love to have a fancy shmancy stroller that kicks other strollers asssses,but I just don't need it!

Sorry to crash, but I'm a BTDT mom with the 2011 City Mini and my DS is super comfy and fine in it for very long periods of time and short periods. I know there were lots of complaints on the older models because the seats were like a hammock with no support, but the new models don't have that issue. We've taken it to Disney, he naps in it if we're out, we go grocery shopping, for walks, to the mall, etc., no issues.
I got a snap n go and a city mini when DS was born. When he was 6 months old, I bought the carseat adaptor for the city mini and I realized I could have not even gotten the snap n go! Works the same and one less thing to store.
My DS is 19 months now and he still is fine in the city mini. I MIGHT be getting a Maclaren Volo for him for quick trips or maybe for traveling since it's so light and takes up so little trunk room, but I'm thinking maybe for next summer when he's 2.
I agree that you don't need a Bugaboo or Uppababy vista AND a city mini. And I also agree that before I got the Bug or Vista, I'd look at the City Select or maybe the Britax B-Ready as they convert to doubles if you need it later on with more configurations than the Vista (and the Bug doesn't convert to a double at all I don't think).

I actually do have the bug and city micro that I think is discontinued. Love the bug but it is way heavy. We used the city for out and about but as another said my ds wasn't happy in it till much older. If you will be home doing a lot of walking and neighborhood things bug all the way. I would choose a lightweight stroller other than the mini for errands.
