if your cycle isn't 28 days, do you trust that your Dr gave you the right due date?

I'm super excited. Got my BFP this AM!!!
DH doesn't even know yet. Not sure if I'll tell him on the phone in a hour or tonight after work.

Obviously, I'm in hidding from lurkers. This new baby will be our #2

Now, my cycle is usually around 35-40 days, I get a very different due date if it's calculated with a 28 day cycle. Actually, I think that DC#1 was miscalculated with an earlier due date thanks to my screwed up cycle. I know that they base it off of fetal growth but I'm not sure I really trust that.

I have a short cycle, 21 days, so I was concerned about this too. I wound up having an early US due to spotting and my date was DD was off by a week so it was changed. Mine was even more screwed up because I hadjust weaned dd1 and had an IUD removed. Generally if there's more than a 5 day difference with an US they will change it.

My cycles are crazy too. I always go by when I O'd (if I know), or the fetal measurement.

Congrats! My cycles are a bit longer than 28 days and my doc adjusted my due date based on that and the sonogram. Due dates definitely aren't written in stone so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My OB bases it off of the first sono but yes - they always have me with an earlier EDD than I know is accurate. With DS 1 it was 2 days; with DS 2 it was 10! Both were big, healthy babies though so I went with them

I do lie about the date of my LMP when I call for the first appointment though I backdate 2 weeks to when I know I O'd so to the woman on the phone, I have perfect 28 day cycles. Otherwise they'd wind up seeing me way earlier than they can detect anything and that just ends up causing undue concern and is a waste of time for everyone. (And of course I tell the OB when I get in there the true story )

my cycle when I got pregnant was 38 days-ish for a few months prior. According to a normal 28 day cycle the due date would have been Jan 23rd but according to how baby was measuring early on sonogram Dr changed it to Feb 2nd and said it made more sense according to my cycle.

I had a 60-something day cycle when I conceived DD#1. I knew my date of ovulation though so I had already calcuated it online based on that....and when I gave my OB my dates he came up with the exact same date as me.
Had I not known ovulation - then yes I guess I would have been concerned my due date would be way off if they just went by fetal growth.

i got pregnant coming off a post-D&C cycle so i have no idea when i ovulated... my dd is based on how LO was measuring the first few appointments. i don't think its spot-on but its probably accurate within a week or so.
