I am a former preschool teacher! I taught for 3 years and then was a Special Ed teacher in NYC for 5 years...before I became a SAHM!

6 weeks to 5 years.

I am a Pre-School teacher.....have taught 4 and 5 year olds for about 7 years now.......

I am rarely totally alone, but I usually am on the floor, and bending, and do often lift as well.

I didn't have to pick up my kids because they were pretty sufficient to do what they needed to do....however there was a lot of bending for me and moving.....3 weeks ago I ended up going into Pre-Term labor and I strongly believe it was due to work and I have been out of work since.....will be a total of 6 weeks before my lil  is due. I had a wonderful assistant who pretty much took over my room and did a lot of the things I couldn't or shouldn't have been doing....she was definitely a good support.....my children also knew that I had a baby in my belly and they were pretty good about helping me out....but like I said I was still always moving, bending and on the go.....plus I think the stress got to me a bit.....definitely feels nice to be home where I can relax and let my Baby cook the way he should

I am a pre-k teacher. I have 5 day full day class of soon to be 4 and almost 5 year olds. I am only 10 weeks pregnant but haven't had any complications (knock on wood) so far. I do do a lot of bending especially when tying shoes! I don't really pick them up but at the beginning of the year i had to drag a few of them into my classroom and away from mommy (even had a child throw his shoes at me-thank god he missed!) They've all pretty much settled in and I am not doing so much sitting on the floor and bending. I have a full time assistant who is with me all day long so that definitely helps!

See most of you have older ones and well as an asst. My boss wants to take my asst. away from when there are 3-4 kids in a room, I still have 1 that isnt even 2 yet. They are all in diapers and still eat with their hands pretty much, dont have a so callled good attention span yet and Im doing ALL the work when I dont have her and that is what I think is unfair. Yes I will do my job but, give me the help at all times.

I hate to say it but she can do that, the state ratio is 1:4 thought best practice is 1:3. I'm sorry that she wants to do that though. Does she know your pregnant?

Yes she knows, told her as soon as I knew. On top of it though I had arthritis in my spine and neck, shoulder issues.
