Anyone know anything about SMN1
i just got my records from my previous OB... and apparently i have two copies of the SMN1 gene... it says reduced risk... but i dont really know what this means in terms of getting pregnant!
ETA: sorry, i mean in terms of having a baby

I also have 2 copies (reduced risk) and have no idea what it means. I also didn't know this until a few days ago when I was given my records to keep with me for the hospital. Would you mind sharing what you've learned?

It means that you are likely NOT a carrier for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. 2 and 3 copies basically = negative, whereas with 1 copy, your DH would need testing to check his carrier status.
