IUIs with self monitoring?
My dr said that I can have a IUI where I just take OPKs and then come in when I surge.
Is this as accurate?

I did IUIs with self monitoring. I had to use my OPKs twice a day and once I got a positive my insemination happened the next day.
It was timed correctly. I was constantly monitored and in one cycle I was told that if I didn't surge by x day they wanted me to trigger. I ended up surging on my own and didn't need the trigger.
Also when I did my IUI they look for something to close (maybe someone else can explain that). If whatever hadn't closed then I did another IUI the very next day.
Unfortunately I did not get pregnant, but we have sperm issues.

I think its fine if you are not taking any drugs with it. But then a drug free IUI is not much better than timed

I've done it but only for purposes of burning up the total amount of IUI's I needed before being approved for IVF. I have to say if your not taking any meds then it's the way to go. Its very stress-free! Good luck!

by no meds do you mean no clomid? It would mostly be for DHs low sperm

When I did it, it was with clomid. IUIs def can help if there is a sperm issue (I don't think it helps if there is a morphology issue though).

Yes I mean not even clomid. If you are on any drugs you should be monitored.

Yes I mean not even clomid. If you are on any drugs you should be monitored.
I think you are monitored. . .at least I was. The doctor just lets you surge on your own.

I was on meds for all my IUIs and on my 3rd one, I got a false positive on the OPK! According to the OPK I was, but my blood showed differently.

Are you any type of meds, because than you should be monitored. Once I knew my follies were large enough (because of sono and blood monitoring) than I monitor myself for ovulation. I would called when I got a positive lh surge and than my iui would be the following morning.

I am not. But, I will go on meds if it ups my chances since I am paying out of pocket I don't have too many chances to do this

Same with me! And for me it worked the first time. I was on clomid
