Chicken soup from scatch..please tell me I can do this
I bought all the ingredients to make chicken soup. I don't want to mess this up since I am making a big batch and freezing some.
Can you PLEASE give me an easy recipe? Also how long do you think it will take?
Thanks!

Re: Chicken soup from scatch..please tell me I can do this
1 whole chicken carrots, celery, onions (or you can get a soup mix in the produce section - has this plus some herbs) I like more veges in my soup though LOW SODIUM CHICKEN STOCK/BROTH (2 large cans/boxes)
Combine, boil, reduce to simmer
DO NOT ADD SALT AT FIRST. WHEN IT REDUCES IT WILL BE TOO SALTY.
Also, a lesson I learned the hard way: Take the chicken out BEFORE you put it in the fridge. I didn't do this and the chicken got stuck in the congealed fat (not fun or appetizing)

I just made homemade chicken soup yesterday. Ive done it a lot but it does take forever...thats what I like to do it on sundays.
The only extra step I do is I strain the soup at the end. It insures all bones are out, I shred come nice pieces of chicken and put it in the strained broth and salvage whatever veggies I can. Also my grandma's recipe calls for a can of tomato sauce in it as well. Comes so good.! we are having the leftovers for dinner tonight! and probably all week!

Super easy to make!
I put the following into a large stock pot: (vegetables are chopped into bite size pieces) Whole chicken Carrots Celery Onions Parsnip Turnip Salt Pepper Grated cheese
I cover it all with water and bring it to a boil. Then I let it simmer for a few hours until the chicken is tender. I take the chicken out, cut it up into pieces, remove the bones, and serve it with pastina. Delicious!

Re: Chicken soup from scatch..please tell me I can do this
take two of your carrots, two of your celery stalks, half an onion, two cloves of garlic and dice them all up. Saute in some olive oil until a little soft. then throw the whole chicken in the pot and brown one side. Then flip it over and brown the other side. Then fill the pot with water covering the chicken. Add the rest of the veggies and cover. Boil for an hour. Then I take the chicken out, let the chicken cool and then throw the bones back in and simmer for another hour or two. I then add salt, pepper and parsley. I serve with small pasta and grated cheese. Sometimes depending on the chicken, I'll add some chicken stock NOT broth and NEVER boulion cubes
