Renting a house--Got some questions

I am renting a house. We actually are in the process of moving in..There was some damage from the hurricane and they have been working on it. We first looked at the house on Sept. 21st and saw it was being worked on.The owner was actually still living there. They have gotten a lot of the work done on the ceiling and the living room area. It needs to be painted. Who is responsible for that? We were told we could paint the bedrooms upstairs. They won't do it. We were ok with that. The family room needs to be painted too. Storm damage in there too. And there are 3 windows in the living room that need to be fixed. Broken glass. They are fixing that too. The thing is that we were told on Sept 21st that it would all be done by Oct. 1st. Then on Sept 27th, we were told it would be a few more days...We went yesterday to drop off boxes and they finished compounding the ceiling and walls but the rest of it was a mess. I tried to contact them yesterday, but got no answer. We can't move in until the stuff is finished. And we got a closer look and the appliances.. EWWW. The dishwasher is gross... The oven isn't any better.. Who is responsible for cleaning that? The last apt I moved into, the landlord cleaned everything prior to us moving in..Also all of the big windows in the house have no screens.. There is a space for them but they aren't there... We can't love in a house where we can't open the windows!!!

The landlord is responsible for all of that. I would call and confirm that they plan on getting it all done and a final date for you to move in. Did you have any of this put in writing in your lease?

Re: Renting a house--Got some questions

I talked to the landlord yesterday. Everything inside will be done within a week. He is having 2 windows replaced and the living room and family room painted.. We got permission to paint upstairs... The kitchen will be cleaned too. We found all of the window screens except for 2 in the living room..
