Surgery
So I had a phone consult with Dr. Mukherjee on Friday morning to follow up on my 2nd failed IVF. He said based on the fact that the 2 embryos they put back were of great quality and that this is the second failure, he recommends surgery.
I'm totally freaked out.
On November 2nd I'm scheduled for him to do a hysteroscopy and to go in laproscopically to look for irregularities and inflammation that might be responsible for preventing implantation. Cutting and scraping and maybe finding nothing (He said there's a 20% chance this could improve things) I don't know...I'm scared. Then I have to wait a month to start trying again...so December for me.
I know some girls had this done for endometriosis. Can you tell me anything about the procedure that might calm my nerves?

Re: Surgery
Sorry that you have to have surgery, but I hope this helps you move foward with increased chances of success.
I have had 2 laparoscopies and 1 hysteroscopy. The worst part of recovery with the laps, was the gas. The incisions not so much, just the discomfort from the gas that they administer to make room for the doctor to maneuver the tools. My RE recommended that I take a laxative the night before the lap which helped a lot, less gas I suppose. I had surgery on Thurs, took Fri off and was back to work on Mon. I was a little sore, but nothing some tylenol couldn't take care of.
The hysteroscopy was quick and I was up and about a couple of hours later, we actually went food shopping as soon as we left the hospital.
The good thing is taht the procedures were successful and helped move us to the next step in treatment. Good luck on your surgery, and feel free to fm me with any questions.

Re: Surgery
I have had 2 laps along with the hysteroscopy each time. I had 2 totally different experiences. The first time was done by my Re. He wanted to go in and see if there was anything going on. He found endo and removed it. With that lap I had so much pain in my chest and shoulders from the gas. It took a few days to feel better. I had stiches in my belly button and 1 incision in the middle of my bikini line that has now totally disappeared. Surgery was a thursday and I was fine and back to work Monday. The second lap was done by a surgeon who specializes in endo. With that surgery I felt no gas pain at all but felt very crampy. He made 2 incisions though on each side of my bikini line. I had alot more endo removed that time so that could be why I felt more cramps. That surgery was on a Wed and I was fine by the weekend and back to work Monday. He also made me do a bowel prep kit the day before the surgery. He said he needed me to be empty to have a really good look. That was the worst part of the whole surgery! Good luck on your surgery!Hopefully it will do the trick!
