standing in the bathtub
now that Talia is standing in the bathtub - and practically crawling out...I am wondering what the next stage is in bathing....do I have to put her in the regular tub now? I feel like it's too big and slippery for her.

Re: standing in the bathtub
Youl could probably put a no slip mat down. We've been bathing Miranda in the big tub since about 3 months. First with one of us then once she sat up on her own by herself. We also bring her in the shower with us. She loves that. She stis on the floor and plays while I shower then I wash her. I usually do it before her morning nap or if we go swimming that morning before the afternoon nap. This way I get her dried off and dressed then I can do my hair, etc while she's napping.

I do the same thing - Emma has been in the big tub since birth. In the begining I would go in with her - When she got older I put her in by herself.
I don't like the baby bath tubs - and I have a double sink so they were too small - The tub is just easier.

Re: standing in the bathtub
I recently saw a Bath Tub Seat at BRU for $20, where you can sit your child, and rest your arm on it. I definitely plan on getting one for when DS is old enough (from 5 months & up).

Emily is mostly in the big tub now too. It throws our nightly routine off becuase we don't do her regular bath anymore but it's working becuase it's a helluva lot easier then trying to get her to sit in her baby tub.
We do it pretty much 3 ways now...either DH will hand her to me while I'm in there, I'll quickly wash her and pass her on (this is when we're super busy)
or I'll have her sit on the floor while I shower (do this when DH isn't home andshe plays with empty shampoo and body wash bottles and LOVES it!)
or fill up the tub with maybe 2 inches of water and bath her in there like a big girl....

Re: standing in the bathtub
Put the new slip pad down. Tell her No when she tries to stand up.
Get her some bath toys or dolls she can wash in the tub with her. It's makes them want to sit down more.
Also, Joseph used to stand up & jump down on his tush in the bath. I was convinced he was going to have a spinal injury. The way we got him to stop (other than screaming "No! You're going to get hurt!") was if he stood up, we would remove all of the bath toys & make it a functional bath. Playing in the tub is only if he listened.

She'd much rather play with them then the bath toys that I put in there for her. I guess it's sorta one of those "I don't think I'm supposed to have these so I'm gonna play with them like crazy" things...!!!
Oh, and tips for the big tub! Definately get the no slip mat cuz she will try to stand up in there too. And definately get the cover for the faucet because the first time I took Emily in she did this big belly slide thing right down the tub and into the faucet! She didn't cry, didn't even get hurt, but it scared the cr@p out of me!!

Re: standing in the bathtub
We have been using an inflatable tub since Claire was about 8 months old. We still use it now at almost 20 months old, although she has just about outgrown it!
It was from toys r us for about $12 and it has a suction cup to hang on the wall to dry.
It is similair to this one..
