anyone ever have a UTI early in their pregnancy?

The OB's office called today and said I tested positive for a UTI infection and they called in a prescription for me.

She said neither the infection nor the medication is harmful to the baby but I was just wondering if anyone else went through something similar?

I've had two so far. You are more susceptible to them while you're pregnant (according to my dr).

I guess the infection isn't technically harmful to the baby, but it can move up into your kidneys pretty quickly and be harmful to YOU. Definitely take care of it ASAP and drink lots of water.

Yes, I had a UTI at 5 weeks and the dr prescribed Macrobid. I was sooo nervous about taking it but the dr said if the UTI went untreated it could travel to my kidneys and cause a bigger issue.

I read that Macrobid is safe for pregnancy (unless you are in the last few weeks) from a few sources and the dr assured me. Still was nervous though.

Yep. Had one at 6 weeks. Dr. put me on penicillin. He didnt say whether it would harm the baby or not but I assumed it wouldnt because he wouldnt prescribe it if it did right? Anyway, I looked it up online to be safe and it was a Class B drug so good to go.
