North Shore Human Reproduction
Now I understand how they have medical students and young residents at the doctors office 'learning', but tell me if you agree in a fertility office I don't feel comfortable with a med student or resident doing my ultrasound during a monitoring appointment. Dr. Chu had to step in because the person today wasn't measuring correctly.

Re: North Shore Human Reproduction
This would bother me if I was pregnant and getting a trans-vaginal ultrasound. I had a technician (non-MD) perform one of these on me at my former OB-GYN's office before my first miscarriage -- it was an extremely uncomfortable ultrasound, and the doctor was not in the room (hence why it is my *former* OB-GYN!). I miscarried a few days later and since we never found out the reason for the miscarriage, to this day I wonder if the ultrasound had something to do with it.
However, for trans-vaginal ultrasounds for IF treatment, pre-pregnancy, with a doctor in the room supervising, that would not bother me so much.

Re: North Shore Human Reproduction
I would insist that a doctor be in the room monitoring what they are doing. The residents at North Shore can be clueless. I had one resident tell me that I was 6 cm dilated and in full blown labor when I was actually less than 4 cm and my contractions had almost completely stopped. This is just something that I wouldn't mess around with. I appreciate that the residents need to learn but they can do it with the supervision of the doctors that actually work there.

Re: North Shore Human Reproduction
My husband saw a urologist there and saw a student a couple of times. However, everytime the doctor was always present to oversee whatever was going on. I would be ok with it as long as the doctor was also there.
