Has anyone ever had a CVS done?

Where did you have it done?

How far along were you?

How painful was it? Can you relate it to a different pain - like cramps?

I just had it done last month. I had it done after my NT scan showed an increase in the neck thickness.

I went to Winthrop Perinatal Associates in Mineola. Everyone there so far has been absolutely wonderful. It's where my OB sent me, I did not choose the place. But very happy.

I was about 12w 4d when I had it done. The did an extensive sono first just to make sure they were seeing the same things my OB did. Then the doc and the sono tech work together. They find the best place to sample the placenta using the sono as a guide. It's all of about 30 seconds long. The needle is a pinch (I had mine done abdominally, but they can do it vaginally if the have better access that way). There was no pain at all. Once they get the needle it, there is a little movement up and down as they get the sample. Nothing hurts, just a weird sensation.

Quick test results are within a day or two. Full panel results about a week.

afterwards, I was completely fine. They say no lifting for 24 hours. I had no issues at all.

I had it done-- I went to Dr. Joanna Stone at Mt Sinai. 212 241 6551 or 212 241 5681.

In fact, Dr. Kleban tried to have Dr Stone do hers, but she was away and had another doc at that practice do it.

It was so not as bad as I thought-- just uncomfortable. A little pain, but really SO not bad and it's over so quick.

I loved the genetic counselor at Mt Sinai too.

And I guess, congrats are in order as well!
