To read or not to read
How many if any books have you read so far this pregnancy about being pregnant?
I have yet to pick up one and to be honest I can't really see myself sitting down to really read one cover to cover. Does that make me crazy?
If you happened to come across a must read that you found really helpful please share!

Re: To read or not to read
I read no books related to pregnancy - I got all of my info from BTDT friends, from this website, and from my weekly Babycenter updates.

Re: To read or not to read
I read What to expecting when your expecting with my first pregnancy. I felt it was informative but some parts of the book quite frankly scared me LOL. Im now pregnant with my second and havent read a thing.

Re: To read or not to read
With my first I read what to expect and diagnosed myself with everything in the book.
The best advice I got was to only read it when you had a question. Otherwise you will make yourself crazy.

Re: To read or not to read
I read a week by week pregancy book, just to what was developing when and the Jenny MCarthy book- I think it is called Belly Laughs. I referenced the What to Expect When You Are Expecting book if I wanted to check on something or diagnose myself. The book did help me is figuring out I had carpal tunnel.

Re: To read or not to read
I was told NOT to read "What to Expect when you are Expecting". Too many what-ifs and bad scenarios
I liked the week by week pregnancy books and have also heard high reviews on the Jenny McCarthy book, though I haven't read it myself.

Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy is GREAT!!! It's like talking to your girfriend about all the crazy symptoms. It's a super quick read and she really just tells it like it is!

Re: To read or not to read
I don't really like What to Expect, I just find it disorganized and annoying. I do love Your Pregnancy Week by Week. I look forward to sitting down every Sunday and reading the updates each week. Some parts are irrelevent, like this week included a big section about chronic diseases I don't and hopefully won't have. I just skip those parts are read what I want. I don't think I'd ever sit and read one cover to cover.

I've done this exactly. Even on Sundays! This is the only book I have read for the pregnancy. Everything else I get from here.

Re: To read or not to read
Personally, I love the baby/prego books- I've devoured more than a dozen of them (I'm a total geek). My favorites have been
-Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy- totally straightforward without being candy coated. -Pregnancy Sucks (yes, the title is harsh but my pregnancy wasn't all rainbows and unicorns- lots of complications- so this book I loved. -Belly Laughs, as everyone else recommended -The Everything Green Baby Guide -What to Eat Before, During, and After Pregnancy
The What to expect book scared the crap out of me. I understand it is supposed to be comprehensive- but a section on the possibility of the mother's death during delivery- really???

Re: To read or not to read
I liked What to Expect When Your Expecting. They have a week by week summary which was cool. I didn't read it cover to cover but often leafed through, looked things up (like when I had a weird sympton).

Re: To read or not to read
I actually like What to Expect When You're Expecting. I found it to be very accurate and could easily find symptoms and figure out what was going on. I liked the week by week guide and would read a week or 2 in advance. As for the "scary" stuff, well, that does happen and I'd rather know about it and have some basic knowledge rather than be blind sided and clueless.
