Glen Oaks/New Hyde Park/Floral Park
Does anyone live in these areas and have any pros and cons. We currently rent in Mineola (in hospital subsidized housing so we can't stay), and my husband is taking a fellowship at LIJ for 3 years. We want to rent in one of those areas. We have a dog and a baby so we are ideally looking for at least a 2 bedroom house. Does anyone know about the neighborhoods are they family friendly, what should we look to pay, any other areas that you'd suggest that are local to LIJ?

we live in floral park and absolutely love it! i'm not sure about how much it is to rent here but i know there are both houses and condos to rent. it's very family oriented, safe, convenient, etc.

We just closed on a house in Floral Park! We haven't moved in yet but it seems like a very family friendly neighborhood!

I grew up in Floral Park, and my parents still live there. Its a WONDERFUL place to live. Its very safe, very family oriented- cute little town, restaurants, grocery store, etc. I love it there!

another plug for floral park. love it. if you can live walking distance to the village even better. so nice, safe, and clean.
NHP is also nice but better in certain areas than others. If your DH is going to work at LIJ i'd look in Little Neck (tons of coops to rent) and Lake Success.
