Dawn! I wet the stain, gently rub some dish soap on it, then spray it with Shout or Stain Stick and wash. Let it hang dry, because if it doesn't come out you can try it again.

I got a grease stain out using Greased Lighting that you get in the kitchen area. Its crazy how great it works!

For oil, I usually use baby powder...I would think it would work on butter as well.

Dishwashing liquid with greas cutting powers: Ajax, etc! Apply and let sit for 4-5 hours! Works great!

The most awesome stain remover EVER is Shout Advanced. It's in a blue bottle with a brush on top. I swear, this stuff takes out MOTOR OIL without harming the garment. I remember I once rubbed some vitamin E oil on a cut on my husband and it soaked though onto an expensive shirt. he wanted to kill me, but this stuff got it out!

I use it for EVERYTHING! It also comes in a spray, but I use the one with the brush for heavy duty stuff because it has never failed me.

Good luck!Chat Icon

My MIL does this with all oil stains and I have witnessed that it works.

It does. I'm a klutz and always end up wearing my meal. Scatter a good layer of baby powder on the stain and let it soak up the oil then wash as usual.
