12 weeks?
My friend just had a NT test and she said the dr said definitely looks like a girl but of course they can't be 100% sure just yet.

I think at 12 weeks its really a 50/50 guess. My sono tech wouldnt even venture a guess at my 12 week appt.

I didn't ask at mine but for my friend they guessed a girl at 12 weeks and she now has a healthy baby boy

my DH had asked at my 12 weeks scan and the tech right away said "no way, too early to tell, 20 weeks we can tell"

I had my NT Scan done at 11w 3d. I asked if the MD could guess and he did guess girl but he said that it was VERY preliminary and to not invest too much into it. He said that he made his guess on the little bit that he could see and his own "crazy scientific calucluations" as he put it

I read that sometimes they can tell. At our 12 week sono I told our tech that we are not finding out but was curious if the gender was apparent. She said nope it was too early anyway.

With my first pregnancy, the technician wouldnt even guess. It was a girl.

With this pregnancy, the technician guessed a girl with 80 percent certainty (her words). I found out at 20 weeks that it was, in fact, a girl.

I was just talking to a friend in Ukraine via Skype and she said they tell very early there, she said around 2.5-3 months they tell you the sex of the baby, she said her sister lives in Russia and same thing there . That's around 9-13 weeks

My tech said at the right angle the 12w guess is 75%. That said they couldn't guess at ours bc DS's legs were closed.

they told my SIL at her 12 week sono that it's 80% it's a girl for her first baby. It was confirmed at the 20 week. This time, she was told that he is almost positive it's a boy and said like 90%. She will find out if that's true in a few weeks.

I don't know if I want to ask at my 12 week. i dont' want them to be wrong and I get attached to the other gender

here is what we were told. Everything forms on the outside. anywhere from week 12 to week 17 is when things go where they are supposed to be (in for girl, stays in place for boys). That is why its hard to guess early. My cousin went to specialists, top in their fields and had 4D sonos done the entire length of her pregnancy they convinced her and told her girl. When she went at 20 weeks - tada, BOY! So I didn't even ask until 20 weeks.

If you have an amnio they can tell you b/c of the genetic makeup.

They can, but are often wrong. I have several friends who were told the wrong sex at 12 weeks, corrected at 20 weeks. I'd ask if I were you, but take it with a grain of salt and don't start buying pink or blue quite yet!

ETA: I have a friend that had a 16 week sono and they told her it was a boy. At 22 weeks, she found out it was a girl and it was!

My OB takes guesses at 12 weeks, but tells us no guarantees until 20 weeks.

He was right with my first & I got a great picture... there was no doubt.

My second is a ... that was just a guess because he couldn't find anything. I got my confirmation at 23 weeks.

I'll tell you this week. I got a guess at my NT Scan and I find out the sex this week.

at 12 weeks the sono tech said 80% . This was confirmed at 16 weeks and 20 weeks. Going for a growth sono tonight, 32 weeks, i will ask her to check for a 4th time just to be sure..lol

My tech won't make a guess at 12 weeks. I was looking at the pics when I got home and you can see the " hamburger sign" which means girl...wont find out for sure until 20 weeks.

My SIL found out she was having a boy at 12 weeks. But at my 12 week, they refused to guess and said they couldn't tell (I am having a boy too). As far as I understand, if its a boy you can find out early since 'it' is either there or not. But I guess it depends on your sono tech too. If you REALLY want to know, you can go get the 4d and they can tell you (I believe there is a package at Impact for gender determination).

trust me, too early!
I was determined to find out and paid $50 for a second sono the same day!
The guy guessed right, but even he did not want to confirm 100%.
ETA: I went to Impact for a gender guess. From what Ive read, basically they're looking for "something" to be there so if they dont see anything, they guess girl. Which almost happened to me except he was hiding his penis behind the umbillical cord!
