How does a mortgage brooker get paid exactly?

I was looking for homes and called about one and said I wasnt sure if I should rent or buy and the girl hooked me up with a mortgage broker. I since then have found a home and he has been running numbers for me etc. How does he get paid? How much is it normally?

they get paid by 'points', hear alot of horror stories when you get to the closing table with brokers. go with a mortgage banker if possible. i know a really good one, fm if you want the info.
