Absolutely. Eggs last awhile. I used some yesterday that were sell by 9/15 for a cake, ate some, and I'm just fine.

Absolutely...best by means they are the best by that date...doesn't mean they spoil right after that.
I never pay attention to dates on eggs.

crack them in a seperate bowl. You will smell it or see it if something is wrong.

this is how you tell if eggs are still good (i had to teach DH this trick who wanted to throw my eggs out!)
fill a bowl with water. put an egg in. if the egg touches the bottom, its fine. if it floats, toss it out
usually when you first get eggs, they will lay on their side. as the weeks progress maybe just the tip is touching the bottom - which is fine....but once they float, toss it!
better safe then sorry

thanks, I tried this, but I thought that if they didn't lay on their side, they were bad....so I tossed them!! Luckily my dad ran some over to me
