i need your opinions please...work related

sorry if this might be long but i have a big decision to make soon and i think only you ladies can truly understand.

i have an opportunity to get a promotion within my company but it means leaving my dept. My current dept is very small and i get along with everyone. My boss is wonderful!! i love that woman she is very understanding, flexible with our schedules and lets us work from home when we need to. Its not something we can do on the regular but it has def come in handy when i had my HSG and B2B IUIs.
BUT - there is no more room for growth. Financially i wont really move up and work wise there isnt anything different i can do.

would you leave for a promotion in title and salary? the other dept is also one that i like and i get along with that manager but no option for telecommuting and they are all men. i dont know if i would feel comfortable informing them of IF related treatment? Down the road i dont know how long my IF journey will be but having the flexibility will help. Then again am i limiting myself????

i wish i had an answer for you... is this an opportunity that you can pursue in the future as well or is this a one time deal? if its a one time deal id probaby do it and just deal with things as they happen...

if not then i would maybe wait

Its not an opportunity that comes around often. I guess I'll see as time gets closer to making that decision what happens.....maybe I'll discuss it with my current boss and see if they can offer me something to stay

it's a tough decision, but from what you described, yes i would take the new promotion/title

you don't have to tell the people in your new dept that you're going through IF treatments, you don't even have to tell your new boss. All you need to do is make sure that the new boss knows you're going through some medical testing and you may have some instances where you need to be out at certain times. If you feel your new boss is someone you can confide in, then you may want to tell him that its IF related. However.. keep in mind that the may then think, oh she's trying to get pregnant, then what happens when she does get pregnant, will they regret offering you the position if you'll be out for several months? it's tricky..

As you said, you don't know how long your IF journey maybe, and you shouldn't need to put other parts of your life on hold (within reason of course) while you deal with it - as long as this new position won't prevent you from doing any treatments i say go for it.

it is tough decision though - you're going from somewhere that you're comfortable, to a new place where you don't know how they'll react.

I would definitely take the promotion. only reason I say that is because I put off going for many things thinking i would be pg soon and almost 2 years later, I have nothing to show for it.
you truly never know whats going to happen and Ive known many people in dead end careers.. its not a good place to be in. If you have the opportunity to move up, go for it!!
You can always find an RE that has hours to accomodate your sched as best as possible (early morning)
I havent done IVF yet but based on what other girls have said, it can be very manageable.
That being said, you really are the only one who can make this decision. Follow what your instincts tell you
