Does IF impact conceiving naturally down the road?

Has anyone heard that IF treatments (meds and procedures) could potentially make it harder to conceive naturally down the road?

I know I should take one step at a time and focus on the first but just curious if there's any research out there....

I feel like this is a confusing question because someone going through infertility treatments is having a hard time conceiving naturally RIGHT NOW.... so I'm actually not quite sure what you're asking. For what it's worth, I often hear of stories from people who needed fertility treatments for the first baby (or babies if it's multiples..... ) and then conceived naturally the second time around.

No...it doesn't change anything. I have two friends that each had failed ivf cycle and went on a month or two later to conceive naturally. In fact for #2 they each had no problem. No idea why the failed cycle seemed to jump start their bodies. So even when not cycling you should always give it a go. But don't be afraid of anything getting messed up...unless it already is.

I asked bc im also having a hard time right now but Im relatively young and want more than 1. I always hoped Ithat for baby 2 or 3 it might happen naturally...(i also hoped that for #1 lol) but I was wondering if what Im doing today is going to impact my ability to have children in the future. I should focus on the first for now anyway... just forward thinking.

I had failed IUIs and ended up getting PG on my own the month before I was going to start IVF.

Re: Does IF impact conceiving naturally down the road?

I've heard of many, MANY people that needed IVF or other IF treatments to conceive their first DC, but got pregnant naturally for their following kids (most weren't trying either). Everyone kept telling me that would happen with, but I don't think that "jump start" really works with male factor. It's almost like pregnancy regulates your body or something, and I have heard that holding a newborn often makes you more fertile. I have nothing to back up that statement though Chat Icon My father saw some kind of special on TV or read that in a magazine.

I wouldn't worry about it affecting you in a negative way Chat Icon

I got pg on my own after dd was born. She was conceived after 7 months of treatment and 3 iui. I never ever ovulate on my own, I have pcos. We were so shocked when I randomly took a pg test after not feeling well and it was positive. Sadly it didn't last and I miscarried 2 weeks later. Now I'm back at the RE because I never ovulated after that mc in May.

My aunt conceived one son on her own. She then got pregnant again with twins on her own and lost them later on. She then had a lot of trouble getting pregnant and turned to IVF. After doing a bunch of IVF cycles she finally got pregnant through IVF. It was a year later that she got pregnant on her own with my other cousin.

I would think not. You are stimulated each month and it's not like your body starts/stops working as a result of meds for the following month. You need to repeat the meds the next month because nothing changed. And I know people who did Ivf for dc1 and had a surprise for dc2.

The way my ob explained it to me is after birth sometimes the body has a way of fixing what is wrong because it is trying to have the experience of pregnancy again. Not sure how true it is but it did happen to me.

My first was natural, my second was IVF and I am pregnant now with my third, who was conceived naturally. My husband has abnormal morphology issues so there were never any issues on my end and I do not believe that doing IVF has impacted my fertility at all. After giving birth my periods returned to normal and I conceived again when my daughter was only 9 months old. Hope that helps!

I think your body just goes through so much with pregnancy that your body changes. I mean I hear people say their hair changes after pregnancy (not just hair loss, permanent stuff). And people cycles change too. It totally makes sense.
