Does anyone get nauseous with Metformin?

Does anyone get nauseous with Metformin?
It seems like I tend to get a little nauseous as the day goes on when I try to eat. This has only happened since I started the metformin a couple months ago. Is there any way to avoid this? I was thinking that I need to eat smaller meals more often but I'm not sure.

I noticed that if I ate less carbs/sugar the nausea was not that bad. Unfortunately, I was still very sick, so I had to stop taking it. Also, you can try taking it at night, that might help too. Good luck!

It's probably from the Metformin. I have been taking it for about a year and a half and I always take it at night after dinner with no side effects. I'd say make sure you're taking it after a big enough meal, not just a snack.

I had terrible side effects with 750 twice a day and up.
I am currently taking 500 with food and have no problems.

Yeah I'm taking 750mg twice a day....I figure I have to change something about my eating to help counteract the side effects.

Ugh the story of my life. After playing around with different cocktails I'm finally doing ok on 1000 mg after dinner. Maybe you can ask for a 500 mg script.

i take the xr/er version with is time released. reg met made me want to die!! alot of women take the extended release and feel sooooo much better btw!! xoxo
