Nervous! Need good vibes!
For the last week every once in awhile I would notice that my belly would feel tight and I would feel a hard spot, like a hard lump. Sometimes the lump would be to the right or left and sometimes dead center but it never felt like my entire belly was getting hard so I didn't think much of it. Then I noticed that it seemed to be happening when I felt like I had to pee but was holding it and after I would pee it would soften up again. I wasn't really "holding" my pee in but I normally have a very active bladder and with drinking so much water and being pregnant I'm constantly going, so holding it would be like I peed 5 or 10 minutes prior and I felt like I had to go again but was waiting a few more minutes before getting up.
Anyway, I got concerned since it kept happening all week about once a day, sometimes maybe two or three times. I didn't think it was contractions/BH because I'm only 16 weeks. I thought maybe it was my bladder? I called the DR this morning. They had me come in to check for a UTI. No UTI with the dip stick but they are sending a culture to the lab to be sure, results in 48 hours.
In the meantime I was told to drink at least a gallon of water a day and to not hold any urine and to lay on my left side. They gave me the whole talk of when to go to L&D which was so scary Apparently I am having contractions. I haven't even felt the baby move yet
I'm hoping it's because I wasn't drinking enough water and was maybe holding my urine too long? I thought I was drinking the right amount but it turns out I wasn't drinking a gallon, maybe 4 glasses less than that. Since I've been home I've been peeing quite a few times every hour, sometimes twice in 5 minutes! I won't even hold it for a second because I'm scared.
I'm so nervous. Did anyone else have contractions this early? Or from not drinking enough? Or from having a full bladder? I am trying not to be scared but I can't help it after the heartache I went through. And to think I was just starting to relax and enjoy this pregnancy.
Please pray for my little

Re: Nervous! Need good vibes!
you are doing the right thing by drinking a ton of water. i have been having contractions since at least 28w (that I know of - i wasn't feeling them and was never checked for contractions earlier than that). upping the water intake does help, as does walking around when possible.

Re: Nervous! Need good vibes!
At 23 weeks I was having painful contractions and spent the night at LIJ. I thought it was due to dehydration but it wasn't. They checked my cervix, which looked good. I was later discharged b/c the contractions were not of a concern, just very uncomfortable. Apparently some women get them and ultimately it just means your uterus is contracting. I try to drink about 80-100 ounces of fluids per day. I am no doc but I think my contractions were caused by my stomach literally growing overnight in addition to my swollen ovaries (from IVF) shrinking. Sounds crazy but I think a lot was going on in there. Hope you feel better!!!

Re: Nervous! Need good vibes!
Thank you
I think it absolutely has something to do with my bladder because it only happens right before or right after I pee. So I think my bladder might be triggerng it, I guess when it's full? But never having a full bladder is hard when you are drinking a gallon of water, especially when your bladder is weak to begin with :( Unless the culture comes back that I have some type of UTI/infection? I just can't believe this is happening now, if I was further along I don't think I'd be as nervous but I'm only 16 weeks and just hearing the word contraction is scary :(
