Moving on to IVF

So after a very rough month we've decided to move onto IVF in January (when we can change ins)
honestly, this month was such a dark place for me. I've questioned everything... my decisions, my faith, my marriage, my desire to be a mom.. all of it. And I really didnt see any way out of it. Thank you to some of the girls on here that were super supportive Chat Icon
I went to meet with Dr Brenner yesterday and i do feel better. I feel like I have a concrete plan and then I just have to let go. I have no control over any of it. So im waiting to o right now and will go for IUI (possibly my last one) sometimes over the weekend. Then Id like to take the rest of the year off with meds and drs and then start the IVF process in Dec to have our first IVF in January.
I know it was a silly question but I asked Dr Brenner if it's possible that this will never work for me. (Im super scared to go through all of this and then it still doesnt work) And he said yes there is a chance.. BUT based on our circumstance, my chance of being pregnant is much higher chance of not being pregnant. I guess that was good to hear.
I dont think Im any less scared but I do have a plan and that makes me feel better. I think Im a little more hopeful than Ive been in the past. there are so many ups and downs and Im trying so hard to stay positive.
Wish us luck!!

Good luck! We're on a break before we start IVF as well. It has been a real pleasure to be on a break and not be in meds....enjoy!

It's always a good feeling to have a plan. It's almost like a feeling of being on control, even though we're really not!!

We are switching to a different version of Aetna. It all depends on what coverage you have. I really like Dr Brenner but havent done IVF as of yet.. SO far I like their staff/organized offices and structured approach to everything. Dr brenner came highly recommended by my GYN which I trust VERY much -been going there over 10 years.
As far as cost, it's about 15k per fresh cycle. So if you're ins covers only 50%, it's the same 7500 out of pocket that you just described.
HTH!

Re: Moving on to IVF

Good luck. I came to the same decision in the spring after failed IUIs. I took a few months off to get everythign in place for the IVF and got PG on my own. Those months of no Drs appt and drugs etc were actually wonderful! I beleive the lack of stress and all the wine I was drinking was the reason.

I hope you can have the same outcome....if not I beleive IVF will work.

We took a couple of months off too, and it really did help. Sounds like you have a good plan, and that is important. Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

we are in pretty much the same situation. i've been in the darkest place for the last few weeks and have really been questioning everything in my life (i posted about it here a few days ago). we've done 3 unsuccessful IUI's with injectables and yesterday started our 4th. if this one doesn't work, we'll be doing IVF in dec/jan too. i'm scared out of my mind about the possiblity of going through IVF and not getting pregnant. if you ever want to talk, please FM! sending you lots of Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Moving on to IVF

I have so been in your shoes. My latest breakdown was after my 4th IVF, yes, 4. Just think how many IUI's I had to do to get there!

Sometimes you have no other option except to keep going. Even though a break sounds like the most difficult task to do right now, it really will be the most beneficial to you and your body, mind, etc. With years of experience, I say whole heartedly, enjoy your break. Truthfully and seriously, rest and re-coop.

Lots of luck Chat Icon
