MS please help...

My MS has just become unbearable. To make things worse I started getting this nasty aftertaste in my mouth after EVERYTHING I would eat. So now I feel like vomitting 24/7. I brush my teeth to help the taste go away and it doesnt help. Stupid me read online to mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda with water and gargle... I did that WHAT A MISTAKE! Ran to the bathroom and started vomitting everything I ate for lunch Chat Icon I feel horrible and I need something. Is there anything OTC that I can take?

I know that when my friend had a really bad morning sickness she used to drink Gingerale, she also bought ginger roots and would boil them and make tea, they also have special lollipops and lemon drops , you can also try just plain lemon juice, if that gives you heartburn try water with lemon juice. That's all I have for now, I'll ask my friend if there is anything else and let you know tomorrow.

Re: MS please help...

When I was just nauseous and vomiting occasionally I sucked/chewed on candied Ginger all day. That was helpful I also only ate carbs and bland food. When things got very bad my ob put me on zofran.

Earth Mama Angel Baby makes a morning sickness tea that is magic! I loved it when pregnant with #1 and give it as a gift all the time. You can buy it at Whole Foods or online. Target started carrying some of the line, but I'm not positive they have the tea.

What worked for me was laying off anything too spicy, flavorfull. Eating very small meals, always drinking something (this made that nasty taste not as noticeable) and my magic remedy was mint tic tacs. I always chewed them as soon as I felt the nasty taste come on.
I hope you feel better soon Chat Icon

ETS: I also changed my prenatal pills. I went with the chewables bc I threw up my regular ones with the MS.

Preggie pop drops helped a bit as well as B Natal. Eating small, frequent meals is key. Try not to let your stomach get too empty. My OB prescribed me Zofran but it gave me terrible side effects so I just suffered with the m/s. Sorry you are feeling horrible Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I got them at BRU. I got the pops and the drops. The drops were easier when I was out and about.

Re: MS please help...

With my son I had ms 5-10 times a day for the first 7 months.

What worked:
Ginger bread men cookies
Lemon aid
Pineapple
Sea-Bands for my writs
I used to eat 1/2 a lemon and just keep it in my mouth.

There was this orange soda drink that I found worked wonders for me. Not pg it is absolutely vile, but while PG I loved it.

I am so so sorry you have to deal with this side effect of pregnancy.

Re: MS please help...

With DD1 I had morning sickness to the point where I could not keep anything down. Nothing. Water would come right back up. It went on for months and months, I lost a bunch of weight. I finally ended up in the hospital for dehydration. When I was in the hospital, a nurse came in and gave me a shot of something in the IV. Within 15 minutes I felt NOT nauseous!!! I called the nurse and was like, "What did you give me??" She told me Zofran. I told her I wasn't leaving without a presciption for it!! I was about 25 weeks pregnant at the time. My Dr. was really resistant about prescribing it, but she did finally! I tried to wean myself off the Zofran at the end of the pregnancy, just to see what would happen, and the vomiting was RIGHT BACK.

Moral of the story: if the intense MS continues, if you can't keep down water, etc, if nothing works (God help me, if one more person told me "try some ginger ale" I was going to punch them) there IS stuff they can give you to help!

Sorry for crashing and good luck!

I actually got them @ Destination Maternity. They have them in pops and drops.

I also tried to avoid fried and fatty foods - they always made me feel worse. I lived on carbs (bagels pretty much every day), ginger ale and tried to have fruit and fruit juice b/c I couldn't handle much veggies at all. Lots of water mixed with gatorade so I didn't dehydrate. I also never went anywhere without saltines or cheerios. Anytime I started to feel a little sick I ate some, just so I could always have something in my tummy.

Hang in there. It'll get better Chat Icon

Carbs!!! Small amounts at a time. I need to eat every 1.5 hours.

I drink ginger ale and sometimes seltzer.

I'm right there with you. Ready for this to be over. Chat Icon

Re: MS please help...

MS is the worst, I had it bad with my 1st pregnancy and now my 3rd (always worse with girls), I found what helped me was carbs, chewing peppermint gum, and grapes- I don't know why but grapes helped me a lot!

That after taste is the worst too, I still have it at almost 24 weeks, but its not as bad....the gum helped with that too! Hope you get over it soon!!Chat Icon

Re: MS please help...

I was in the ER a lot for MS - so see if your Dr will prescribe Zofran for you - it really helped me
Also once I was able to eat - i had lots of carbs - a salt bagel with CC
Eat a few crackers before you even get out of bed
Also with the baking soda - I have to say that did help take the taste out of my mouth - but later on in the pregnancy - and I did not gargle - I really just swished it around in my mouth
I would suck on lemon candy or mints - it seemed to work for me
