Homegoods had cute fall decor.
I have a fall table runner, pumpkin with words about being thankful, and a man and woman pilgrim set.

For me, "Decorating for fall" means having lots of leaves in the front yard....

Re: Spinoff to Fall Decirating?
I think it depends on the style of your house. For us, our home is very cozy with lots of natural tones. In the Fall I play up some of the richer colors, darker brown, orange, gold. I change the curtains, throw pillows and bedding. I also put out harvest scented candles and some candle holders with leaves on them. Homegoods and Pier 1 have alot of great seasonal decorations.

Re: Spinoff to Fall Decirating?
Outside:
I will put out potted flowers (fake) in fall colors (e.g., yellow and orange mums). I usually get silk flowers from Michael's or AC Moore, and they have inexpensive pots, too. I reuse the pots from year to year and just change out the flowers, but they last a LONG time and give a good pop of color. I do pointsettas around Christmas, hydrangeas in the spring, etc.
I also usually get a seasonal wreath from AC Moore or Michael's.
White Post Farms had really cute outdoor fall decorations that were really reasonably priced. They had scarecrow/ragdolls on a post you can stick in the ground (2 for $10) and other mini garden/lawn decorations that were like 3 for $8. (Things like pumpkins and harvest theme decor).
Hicks Nursury often has cute outdoor stuff, too. They can be priced, but you can get great deals for next year at the end of a season or right before a big holiday (last year I got a ton of cute easter/spring items for really good sale prices at Hicks right before Easter weekend).
Inside:
I usually switch out items like shower curtains and decorative towels and candles in the bathrooms, throw pillows on the family room couch, centerpiece on the dining room table, etc. For that type of stuff, I often go to Home Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, and Target.
Have fun decorating!

The Christmas Tree Shoppe always has a lot of cute fall things for great prices. I buy a lot there.

Re: Spinoff to Fall Decirating?
I got a fall colored tablecloth and placemats for the dining room. I put out fall colored hand towels in the bathroom and I bought a fall themed kitchen towel. Kohls had some good sales.
I also bought 2 maple scented candles at Stop n Shop (impulse buy!) but they smell so good!
I might look for a wreath for the front door and get some mums in pots for the front of the house.
