I'm having an Oktoberfest for my son's 1st birthday next month, yet no one in our family is a drop German. Anyhow, I was recommended to this place in College Point for the catering...

Re: German peeps know of any german delis?
My fav is Forest Pork Store, I go to the location in Huntington because it is much easier to park there and the store is larger.
Forest Pork Store
The other store in Ridgewood is closed to retail, but you can place an order and pick it up.
All kinds of wursts, smoked pork chops (kassler), different bacons, smoked ham hocks, salamis, baby bologna, the list is endless. The frankfurters are the best - smoked and fully cooked so you can eat them as is. Don't forget to pick up weinkraut (sauerkraut made with white wine) to go with the wursts - Hengstenberg is the brand I like, and the small barrel pickles by Gundelsheim. German mustard too.
I'm getting hungry.

I forgot to add that I also use this place : Online German Deli when I can't get something at Forest Pork Store. They are in Texas, and ship everywhere. Chilled products come in a styrofoam cooler with ice packs.

Odd, that site never came up during my searches for certain products. Prices are similar to the ones at GermanDeli.com. I wonder if they make their own sausages ? GermanDeli.com doesn't - they sell Schaller & Weber (holy smokes - I forgot about the store on 2nd ave and 86 street in Manahattan $$$ though) and some others imported directly from Germany.
If you are willing to take a drive, I really do recommend Forest Pork Store. I make the pilgrimage every two months or so. More often and I would be broke !
something else you might need for your Oktoberfest :

yes yes yes! my mother will ONLY buy all her meat at Forest Pork Store. They cut/grind the meat right there...real butchers. It can get expensive though.
