Agent question
Our realtor is only receiving 2% commission on our sale, which honestly doesn't equal out to be a ton considering we are buying a house for very cheap! Has anyone done anything extra for their agent? I feel like mine has gone above and beyond so far and we aren't even closed yet! He really handles everything for us. Thanks!

Re: Agent question
Unless your agent is the broker he is probably getting less because he has to split that fee with his broker/co. The best gift is a referral!

Re: Agent question
That's so nice of you to think of your agent!
Agents know that when they work with the buyer, the standard fee is 2%, which, as the previous poster said, is not given entirely to the agent. If your agent is affiliated with a brokerage, he or she gives a portion of that fee to the broker, pays franchise fees, etc. But again, agents know what they are working for at the outset.
I also agree that a referral - - just generally spreading the word about a good agent who worked hard for you -- is the best way to say "thanks." One of the biggest challenges for agents today is building a steady flow of customers who are ready to buy/sell, so giving somebody business is a great way to recognize your agents' efforts. Your agent will be appreciative.
