OB vent
I think I might have to switch doctors. I have had nothing but problems with trying to get an appointment that fits my schedule. I have made concessions and lost sick time in order to make my appointments. I cannot do it any longer because I am afraid I wont have time left if I actually am sick.
Now, starting next week I absolutely CANNOT make any appointments during the week before 8pm. I am student teaching from 745am to 330pm and working from 4-8. If I dont work, I dont get paid. I am using all of my vacation time for my student teaching. My doc does have evening hours until 9pm on Thursdays, but theres no sono tech! So, that proves to be an issue as you can imagine.
I really like my doctor but I am getting frustrated. Does anyone have a female doc in the nassau area that they love?

Re: OB vent
I don't know of any ob's in that area. But if I were you I would probably consider missing student teaching here and there when you need to. I know it's very serious and you don't want to come off as taking it lightly but I think most people would understand. Even if you can schedule appointments at night and then take a half day just for the appointments where you need a sono. I think some women only get about 3 sonos during their pregnancy. I don't think taking 3 half days would be out of line in your situation.
I remember getting lectured for an hour in college about how student teaching is a full time job and all that. We weren't even allowed to work part time while doing it. Now that I've been in teaching for years, I would never have a problem with one of my student teachers missing a handful of days.

Thanks! I am hoping that I will be able to do that. The bottom line is that my baby comes first, so hopefully my cooperating teacher and my filed supervisor will understand.

I am thinking this is probably what I am going to have to do. Maybe for the few appointments where I need to have a sono I can leave student teaching a little early and then come into work a little late. It just stinks because in order to get paid for the correct amount of time I will have to work the extra time I took...oh well. Nothing I can really do about it and I think I am stressing myself too much over it.

Re: OB vent
At my doctors office the sono techs latest appt is 6:30 and they do not offer weekends. I work 2hrs away from my doctors office. On those days where I need sonos I just tell my bosses that I need to leave an hour early to get to my appts. I was scared at first since it will be quite a few over these >9months, but they understand. I feel that it's my responsibility to get to my appt, so I have to suck it up

Re: OB vent
I think your going to have a hard time finding a OB later then 9pm. The fact that yours is open most days till 9pm is really good. My place is open late but only two days a week. The sono techs are only there certain days and hours so I think that is normal for most places. Even if you find a place open Saturday's, they may not do sono that day. Not sure how far along you are, but as you must know already your appointments are going to get more frequent. You have a busy schedule and it can't be easy, good luck!!
