WWYD about a sore throat?
I have had a mild sore throat for the past few days but ignored it hoping it would go away. I woke up this morning and my throat is on fire. I took my temperature but I don't have a fever--yet. The back of my throat seems to have some white patches which I know means an infection. Can I treat this at home without going on antibiotics? If so, what can I do?

Sounds like strep to me. I'd get to the dr asap! There are certain antibiotics you can take while pregnant like the z-pack. You don't want it to get worse so try to get there before you get a fever. Feel better!

see your dr asap! Could be strep. Drink some hot water and suck on hard candy to soothe until you can see your dr.

No you should not try to treat it at home. Call your doctor before it gets worse. They can give you something 100% safe to take while pregnant.

If you think it is somethong serious like strep, definitely go to the dr. For the soreness part, try to gargle with warm salt water that usually helps me.

I agree with the other posts about checking with your doc.
I do have a home remedy for sore throat (not strep) that can help get phlegm off your tonsils.
Mix warm water, lemon juice, and vinegar (equal parts) with a little bit of salt. Gargle once or twice with it. You will gag, and spit out the phlegm that has accumulated there. This will give you temporary relief. However, please check with your doc to make sure you don't have something more serious.

Thank you Ladies! I wasn't able to see the dr. today and the urgent care that I go to doesn't open until the evening. I have my level 2 sono tonight so I definitely don't want to miss that. My throat feels a little better but I will go to the dr tomorrow to make sure. I will gargle with salt water in the meantime. The idea of missing vinegar and lemon with some other things is interesting too--i might give that a try! Thanks again!
