ombre by accident?

so i am totally not a hair or makeup girl... i was actually scared when i found out i gave birth to a daughter cause i figure its my job to teach her how to be girl and i am SOOOO not girly

that being said, im ready to change my hair.. i realized that because i didnt redo my roots when i was pregnant, and its been almost a year now since my last dye job, i have accidental ombre style. yay because its somewhat stylish but boo because i still want to change my hair...

so my light brown roots are about 6-7 inches long, and the remaining 6-7 inches are very blond. i want to cut some of it anyway so only the remaining tips will end up really blown.can i pull this off as ombre or will i have to have my whole head re-dyed to have it look good?? money is tight that's why im wondering before i go to the salon and have to shell out a ton of money..
