Fasting- 66 ( dr said normal, but i thought range is 70-99???)

2 hour - 175 ( too high, norm is 65-154)

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
I'm sorry! I was afraid of failing it (and barely passed) but I tried convicing myself that it is only for a very short time - no more than 12 weeks, right?
As everyone on here told me, it is not your fault. There is nothing you can do to avoid it.

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
aww I'm SO SO SO Sorry!!
I had GD and was on insulin for it... and it hit me REALLY hard! So I totally understand!!
your fasting IS normal. For fasting I had to be under 90 (text book is 95 I believe... I had a very strict dr who made me be below the points from the text book figures).
then after meals I had to be under 120 (I believe 130 is the norm).
Before meals he wanted me under 95... but I think 99 is the more the norm.
I did the diet... it didn't help me at all. my problem was BEFORE meals not after. So I ended up on insulin in the morning and night. I had to keep having my insulin increased (I was up to 38 twice a day). I tell you this because, my baby was born perfectly healthy with great coloring and all. So 'try' not to stress or be too upset. It's just important to follow what the dr says because well controlled GD is just like a normal pregnancy (that was my dr's motto). If you have any questions or need support please feel free to FM me. I know for me, it helped SO MUCH to talk to others with GD. They not only understood but It also helped with the diet and any questions I had.
Good Luck!!

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
The first few days were overwhelming. I shed quite a few tears, so unhappy with myself and my body. Then I realized that in the scheme of things it really isn't that bad.
I am so far just altering my diet. Way less carbs since I'm a carbs junky. Being told a menu idea had me in tears too. a slice of rye bread with a tbls of peanut butter and one string cheese is not my idea of breakfast. Within a couple of days I had other ideas. My morning number has been off so I'm playing with what I eat before bed (I had to add a snack before bed to help my fasting number).
If you have any questions there are a lot of great suggestions around here.

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
I was hit harder by the GD diagnosis then with being told I was having Triplets. I have read the literature and it seems overwhelming at first, but it's not so bad. Granted I am in the hospital and they measure out all of my food, but I do have dinner or lunch brought in once a week and have been doing well with choices. It's all about the sugar and carbs. I had pasta primavera the other night and was pleasantly full and my sugar was perfect. You will figure it out and it doesn't last forever. I have my DH on standby to bring me BEn & Jerry's and homemade cookies after these babies are born! LOL You will great at this, just give yourself time to learn.

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
I agree with previous posters, it IS overwhelming at first. But just like IF, it becomes the norm pretty quickly. And it is for for a short period (in my case VERY short). Listen to your doctors instructions and you and LO will be just FINE. Having to go on a diet is just one of the many sacrafices you have already made for your baby. I had an excellent dietitian who still actually keeps in touch with me, so if you need a rec, let me know.

Re: i knew it- failed 3 hour
thank you for your support, ladies. you are amazing.
i am a little worried about measuring my sugar 8 times a day, b/c i am on lovenox and everytime i scratch something, my blood pours out like water. but i guess i could manage that too, since i have to.
anyone on lovenox and have GD? any advice on how to avoid losing too much blood with all this sugar measuring?
